Charity registration number: 1091969

Objectives and Activities

SORP reference
Summary of the purposes of
the charity as set out in its
governing document
Para 1.17 To advance the education of young people up
to the age of 18 irrespective or gender, race or
religion by providing opportunities and
facilities for playing football. We aim to
develop their physical, mental and spiritual
capacities so that they may grow to full
maturity as individuals and members of
society. We want to enhance their aspirations
and opportunities in life.
Summary of the main
activities in relation to those
purposes for the public
benefit, in particular, the
activities, projects or
services identified in the
accounts.
Para 1.17 and
1.19
The club currently has 20 football teams for
259 boys and girls, ranging from Under 7s to
Under 16s. We play in the Huddersfield league
for boys and the West Riding league for girls.
We also play in a variety of local and county
cup competitions. The club runs football
sessions for boys and girls below the age of
seven as an introduction to football on
Saturday mornings throughout the year. It is
the basis upon which the club continues to
introduce new teams at the youngest age. The
club is committed to developing sports
facilities in the local area. Brearley Field has
continued to be developed.
Statement confirming
whether the trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit
Para 1.18 The trustees believe that the opportunities
offered by the club meet the public benefit
requirement

Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 The club continues to maintain its status as a
FA Charter club. We have organised and
managed over 300 football matches
throughout the season and children
participated in over 750 training sessions. The
club has been successful in maintaining a
consistent safe environment for young people.
Children have fun. The club has maintained its
high level of recorded participation with 259
registered players and a further 20-30 children
involved in training and the U6s Saturday
Soccer club. The club has continued to develop
Brearley Field (a neglected sports field we have
a licence to use), providing the only non-
council run grass pitches in the Upper Calder
Valley, which it will hopefully receive the lease
to soon. The club has spent significantly more
this year on using hired artificial services to be
able to provide training sessions, as the effects
of climate change have led to grass pitches
often beingunusable.
