The London Pearl Kin ueens Socie Trustees, Report for the year ended 31 March 2025 STATEMENT OF TRUSTEE'S RESPONSI8ILITIES The Trustees present their Trustee's Annual Report (TAR) together with the financial statements of the charlty for the year ending 31 March 2025 which are also prepared to meet the requirements for a Trustees, report and accounts in accordance wlth the General Dlrettions given by the Charlty Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and comparlson of the financial statements presented with those records. It also includes conslderation of any unusual items or disclosures in the financial statements and seeklng explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently these accounts do not express an audit opinion on the view 8iven by the financlal statements. The financial statements comply with the Charlties Act 2011, the Memorandum and Artlcles of A55ociatlon, and Accounting and reportlng by Charities: Statement of Recommended Prattice applicable to Charlties preparlng thelr accounts in accordance wlth the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS102). Our purpose and artlvltles The Soclety was establlshed partlcularly for the benefit of persons In the Greater London Area and Home Counties, to relleve poverty and slckness and for such other charltable purposes as the Trustee's, shall from time to tlme, determlne. Organlsatlon The board of trustees admlnisters the charlty and meets at least twlce a year In addltlon to the monthly meetings of the members. At these meetlngs there is discussion on financial affair5, adminlstration and any other requlrements as outllned by the charity commission. Trustee Indurtlon and tralnlng New trustee5 undergo an orientation meetin8 With the Chair and/or sensor officer to brlef them on: their legal obligations under charlty; the Charity Commisslon guidance on public benefit; and Inform them of the content of the Memorandum and Articles of Association, the committee and decision- making processes. An Induction Handbook wa5 produced and adopted in thls 23124 year to ald the Induction and help with the charity governance. Rlsk management The trustees have a risk mana8ement strategy which comprlses: Meeting once a year to VEW the princlpal risks and uncertainties that the charity currently face5. The establishment and review of policies, systems and procedures to mitigate those risks Identified in the annual review. and The implementation of procedures designed to mlnimlse or manage any potentlal impact on the charity should those risks materialise.
Finance/Fundlng Strategy The financial management of the charity is very important to us all and we have great transparency in how and where our funds are allocated. As a charity we are keen to ensurethat our misslon and objectives are fully met. During the current year, the Trustee5 undertook their annual review of systems, it was agreed that the procedures remain the same, i.e. operating from a Reserve Account, a Main Account plus a Working Account and reporting on this monthly to members. Additionally, the LPK&Qs have income streams from I x Worldpay, 2 x Sumup handset machines which are used for collections made by card rather than cash, and a PayPal account which is actioned by a QR code. Reserves Policy An unrestricted reserves pollcy is drawn up each year on the approprlate use of accumulated funds. The Treasurer and Trustees examlne ways of ensuring that there Is approprlate 'contingencl funding to support the committed expenditure costs by producin8 a budget for the on-comlng year. The Future Following yet another busy and successful year the LPK&Qs were delighted to welcome three new members to our Society, Evie, Evette and Jasmine our new Pearly Consorts. It Is so wonderful to know that we are taking positive actlon to keep thls wonderful traditlon allve. Stafflng and Volunteers There are no pald staff in the LPK&Qs charitable society, the society Is run and supported excluslvely by volunteers. All volunteers undertake tasks at thelr own expense and as such the Trustees welcome every opportunity to thank thls dedlcated team of individuals. Our volunteer Pearly Kin8s, Queens, Princes, Princesses, Prides and Con50rt5, are wonderful people who go above and beyond any expectation of them, It appreciated that each year we have this opportunlty to record our thanks and 8r3titude for all the hard work and dedlcatlon of all our members, each and everyone Is so Smportant for the continuance of this wonderful tradltion. Wlthout thls dedlcation we would have no funds to distribute to charitable causes, to all our member5 Thank you. The London Pearl Kin ueens Socie Trustees, Report for the year ended 31" March 2025 TRUSTEES ANNUAL REVIEW- (TAR) AcfiviTES, ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE The Society envisage the engagements in 2024 to slow down havlng followed the once in a lifetime event of the past two years, we were wrong. Delivering over 200 sessions we were amazed to have increased incomel New Consorts- As mentioned above we welcomed three new Consorts, Evle, Evette and Jasmine, who all bring positive skllls and attributes to our society- welcome. Soclal Medlalpubllc Relations- Further Improvements on Our soclal media were made and Evie 8enerously volunteered to take on the runnlng of our Instagram page. Amongst many 'stories' please seek out the video markln8 Internatlonal Women's Day, it Is a wonderful collection. New PayPal account and QR Code - The new QR coded has been incorporated Into our leaflets and went Ilve early In 24125. Card Reader machlnes- Havlng acknowledged the posltive Smpact of our card mach5ne, It was agreed to research the best provider and to purchase two more readers, this is already showin8 POSltive outcomes. Portobello Road- With huge thanks to John D, a collecting Opportunity was secured at Portobello Road, this has been great fun wlth several collettin8 dates delivered so far. The Sweeps Festlval - mentioned last year was also attended agaln and thls time our members were offlclally reco8nised by havin8 a stage presencel Thank you to all the people in Rochester offerlng thelr support wlth donations. Harvest Fe5tlval- thls was yet agaln another success, we had Identified a new venue for the receptlon, The Lord Raglan was an excellent settlng for the after-event celebrations. We would also Ilke to thank Gemma, her famSly and friends for undertaklng the whole caterln8 on our behalf, the feedback from the mayors and other di8nitaries was extremely positlve. Other regular dlary events- The Faversham Hop Festival, Annual Boat Party, HaNest Festlval, Mad Hatters Tea Party, and the St. Geor8e's Day in Trafalgar Square all took place with great attendance by our members. Flnally- We are delighted to report that we achieved charitable status wlth Microsoft, this wlll has provlded the charity With numerous benefits and access to training events. Princlples for our work The charlty Is adminlstered by a Trustee Board, consistin8 of elected officers, Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and four other members of the Socie5 Management Commlttee and It is their Intention to maintain the charity principles in the same vein as the Pearly founder Henry Croft who raised funds to primarily support the needy and the sick. Collectln8 Events Presentations
Collecting We had not expecred it but we found that 2023/234 wasjust as busy as the year before. At the latter end of the year, thanks to John Dowell we secured a new collecting site in Portobello Road. Over the year we undertook 68 collecting sessions (previous years 50, 26,73 respectively). Key venues for collecting were Covent Garden (every third Sunday of the month), Brick Lane Ifirst Sunday in the month) and Polhill by prior appointment, The Greenwich Market sessions, Brick Lane sessions have fallen off, the members will be looking strategically at collecting over the coming months. Events As mentloned above we were engaged for many Jubilee events the Increase was exceptional and is unlikely to be matched for some time. In the period we delivered 40 sesslons (previous years 56, 10, 63), a summary of these events Is available on request. Presentations Presentations for 2024/25 perlod were 58 {prevlous years 29, 10, 37), a further increase whlch marks an increase In our work In care homes, and other groups such as Women's Institute (Wisl, University of the 3, Age (U3AI and the Actlve Retirement Groups {ARAs). Mlscellaneous fundralslng We had 34 mSscellaneous sessions durln8 the period (prevlous years 10, 5, 30). Thank you The trustees wlsh to record their thanks for the effort and work undertaken by our Pearlles In achlevln8 this amazin8 body of work, a total of 200 dellvery sesslon5 (previous year 145, 51, 2031. Total Income 8enerated In the perlod was £35,344.34 compared to £25,674.93 in the previous year. Please note this Is Inflated due to two years backdated Gift Aid £4410.28. However, taking this Into account there Is still substantial increase on funds raised, a8aln we thank all our members in achievlng thls. Asslsted Collectlng Each year many of our members support other charlties by helping to collect funds directly for them.
