Trustees’ Report
Objects:
To help the young people in Gateshead and its surrounding area especially but not exclusively through their leisure time activities so to develop their physical, mental and spiritual capacities that they may grow to full maturity as individuals and members of society.
Achievements:
Gateshead Redheugh as a well-established local hub continues to promote and develop year on year within its community and beyond.
This season is no different. The organisational structure of the club enables us to grow in confidence. We have a robust management team, we also have 40+ volunteers who manage and coach football teams from the club all of which have up to date DBS checks and F.A. coaching accreditation. Redheugh actively encourages new volunteers to embark on football coaching and management courses including First Aid qualifications. Existing coaches are equally encouraged to develop their own careers as instructors and mentors to children and young people with the support of several partner organisations.
The club has 30 teams all together including a senior team in the Northern Alliance league and this year started a wildcats team which is FA affiliated girls football. We now have 2 girls teams
Our child football development goes from strength to strength as children as young as 5 are coached and proudly represent their club in the local area. These children embark on a career with the club that can take them to adulthood the messages and values embraced by the club, we feel help most of our members as they grow and develop.
The club’s facilities are magnificent; many teams use the club as a training base. We have a 3G playing surface which is increasingly being used on a daily basis Dunston UTS and Whickham FC 2 local senior teams in the EBAC Northern league avail themselves of our facilities and many of our players go to play at this high level when their career at Redheugh has run its course.
Our main playing surface is magnificently maintained by our ground manager the surrounding area is utilised continuously throughout the season finally our links with Newcastle foundation, Gateshead Council and Durham FA help maintain our high standards Season 2020-21 promises to be another successful year as a club we keep going forward.
Covid forced a short shut down but despite that we did everything we could to keep our members moving. Our coaches sent fun weekly tasks to their teams to keep them active. As soon as it was safe to do so, we opened our grounds again with families following strict government guidelines to keep everyone safe.

The trustees have considered the guidance produced by the Charity Commission on the provision of public benefit and they confirm that public benefit has been provided by the range of activities as described above.
Financial Review:
It is the policy of the charity to try to build up unrestricted funds, which are free reserves of the charity, to a level that equates to approximately 6 months unrestricted expenditure. This will provide sufficient funds to cover management and administration support costs and any emergencies that may arise from time to time.
Trustees Responsibilities
The Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy the financial position of the charity and which enable them to ascertain the financial position of the charity and which enable them to comply with applicable law. The Trustees are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

Independent Examiner’s Report on the Accounts
Report to the trustees/members of Redheugh Boys Club on Accounts for the period ended 31 December 2020, set out on pages 6 to 10.
Respective responsibilities of the Charity and the Independent Examiner
As members of the Charity you are responsible for the preparation of the financial statements; you consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 3(3) and section 144(2) of the Charities Act do not apply and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to
-
Examine the financial statements under s.145 of the 2011 Act;
-
Follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145 (5)(b) of the 2011 Act;and
-
State whether particular matters have come to my attention
Basis of examiner’s statement
My examination was carried out in accordance with General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with these records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the accounts.
Independent examiner’s statement
In connection with my examination no matter has come to my attention:
-
(1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:
-
to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the Act; and
-
to prepare accounts which agree with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act ; or
-
(2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
