Section D Achievements and performance
Summary of the main achievements of the Annual Report of the Group Scout Leader
charity during the year
In the annual census in January 2024 we recorded the Scouts section at that moment as being 18 (25 in previous year)
members, with 5 (5) leaders; Cubs 17 (16) with 3 (5) leaders, and Beavers sadly remain suspended. Despite multiple
efforts to recruit new leadership, we have not been successful in identifying anyone yet who is willijng to take on the
leadership of the section, so the Beavers section remained suspended and seeking support to reopen it remains a
priority.
We continued to make progress in Training through the year with all leaders being compliant with Mandatory training.
1st Response gaps are also now very close to closure.
All Scout and Cubs sections operated through the year with varied and interesting programmes providing fun adventure
and learning to all.
Cubs also enjoyed a very varied and active programme during the year and 1 cub achieved Chief Scout's silver award,
13 Challenge badges were awarded with the main focus in the year being on the World and Outdoor Challenge
badges. Many achieved the Level 3 Navigation staged badge and 13 Cubs attended the Frantic camp. In addition
Cubs celebrated the Coronation, and attended the Witley Remembrance service and the District Carol service at
Charterhouse.
In the Scout section, 1 young person secured Chief Scouts Gold award in the year, and many were awarded other
Challenge badges — in total 15 Challenge badges were awarded in the calendar year and many Activity badges were
also completed. Scouts attended both Frantic Camp (16) and Scoutabout.
Section Leadership remained stable in Scouts and indeed Kerry secured her Woodbadge for Scout section leadership
shortly after the end of the year. In Cubs 3 leaders hung up their woggles during the year after several years of loyal
service (Melissa, Nick and Ed) but fortunately two new Cub leaders (Andy and Daniel) joined at the end of the year and
have now completed their Getting Started training and Appointment process and so have Full appointments. The
section has also benefited from the loyal support of Stephen and Sharif,
The Group Leadership has been busy supporting the section leaders, but also focusing on implementing The Scout
Association Transformation requirements including for example the establishment of The Board of Trustees. A further
key area of focus has been preparing for the renewal of the Lease on Jubilee Hall, as well as managing the Hall itself in
particular in close cooperation with Witley Infant School our principal Licensee user.
2023 once again was a very busy year offering a huge range of activities to young people in the local area. Thanks to
ail the section leaders — and the regular helpers who make it all happen so brilliantly for our young people, and to the
Board of Trustees who do so much to make it all happen behind the scenes, in particular Nigel (Chair), Keith and Paul
(Treasurer and much besides): thank you!

Brief statement of the
charity's policy on reserves The policy of the Group is to ensure that we have 6 months of normal operating
expenditure to cover unforeseen circumstances. In addition we maintain a reserve
against major repair work for Jubilee Hall which currently stands at £50,000.
