Section D Achievements and performance
Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year
The Coronavirus pandemic has presented a new challenge for Leighton (Montgomeryshire) Village Hall (herein referred to as “LVH”). LVH relies on bookings, private hire and classes, and would normally host its own fundraising events at the hall, to generate a large proportion of its annual income. Restrictions on opening coupled with restrictions on social distancing have meant that the majority of these have not been able to take place in the year.
We have been fortunate that the adjoining Leighton CP School has been able to make use of the hall throughout the year, as well as the new tennis courts and LVH has a close and very positive relationship with the school. When restrictions allowed, some classes returned to the hall, too.
The Trustees and wider committee of LVH have worked hard to ensure that measures were put in place to ensure the safety of the users of the hall, and that it is regularly cleaned and maintained to a high standard.
LVH continued to support and engage with the community through the year and was successful in applying for a small wellbeing grant that allowed it to distribute small food parcels to over 60 residents of Leighton and the surrounding area, which were very well received. The community supported LVH in return with many continuing their memberships to the 100-club again this year.
LVH was successful in applying for a Coronavirus support grant during the year, which will ensure that it can meet its costs whilst the hall’s other income streams are supressed.
LVH also changed bank during the year to take advantage of a switching incentive, and allow it to bank more locally.
