We have been pleas8d lo be a￿8 offer a wide variety of sessions throughout the season and swimmers report back re9iilarly that they hawe enjoyed the opportunity to swim at this historic and beautiful freshwater pool. For the first time In 2023, we hove employed three permanent members of staff Phil Fi8nsley remains in place ay our Pool Manao8r, and ￿ thank hi￿ for his conlinuinq enthusiasm. dilio8nee and hard work havinfj overseen the pool through many seasons and changes and most notably ensLJring that the PDOI could continue to be open during the pandemic ytsars. We have been pleased to welcome back several longstanding Ille9uards and klosk staff from prevlous seasons as well as ernploying several new lilegu£rds. Leanne ran a suc￿sSful essential lifeguarding skills evening for trustees lo learn alongsid8 lil8guards lo b8tter understand Ih8ii rol8 and rgsponsibili118s, which was rnuch £ppreciat8d and which will b8 repeated annually. Leanne has also provided 5wimrning lesson5 to custorners jchildren and adult51 and she will continLJe lo offer trese in the coming se8son. We have held 5ever81 successful even15 during our 2023 season. These h8ve inr.liided thÉ summtrr sol*lir.@ swim In June which Is In¢r&asingly popular 8ath yttar, with Ilckéls sèlliw out quickly. This year the wgather was bpaijtiful and as the sun r05e, several swirnmprs la1er described the water as turning golden in the •arly morning light. In July wg hgld our first Summar Swimalong. This includod a barb8cu8 run by our trusl8•s, tho kiosk slaffed by our lifeguards and other team rn8tnbers. tnusic play8d by local rnusicians and a karaoke session. The Iick8ts sold out qLJickly, many families attended and It Wa5 a lovely day. We also held three midnight 5wms during the rnain $ummer season. In Autumn we hdd a furlher bonffire swirn on 5 NoY8mber w8 a130 ran a barbecu8 SO that swlmmers could 8njoy h(rt lood afler Ih8ir swin. During Ihe $8ason we w8lcorn8d 8arly morning 5W1rnrn8rs who often like 10 5Witn on their way lo work as well 85 other regular swimrners. Later in the day we provided a range of differenl swimming sessions including quieter rtrlaxed mid-morning sessions. lane swimming and family sessions in the afternoon. Thor8 ar& avening se55ions foi Ih05e who prefer to Swim after WDik or al the end ol the day. There are se55ion5 to cater for all. There have been yog8 sessions by Ihe pool during the summer se5%0n. Over the last couple of years, we have introduced the planters along the flint wall, which artract bee5 and other insects and are popular with swimmers who often enjoy silb'ng near the plants lo dry off after IkBii switn. The ancient hornb8atn 1188s, which piovide welcotll8 shade on a hoi sufflttiei's day are part of an ongoing tree study to ensure their longevity. The paving of the side of the pool by the flint wall is now eornpleted. All side5 of the pool haije now be￿ repaved In recent ye8r5. We have new chernic81 stDr8ge facilities. Another improvernent in 2023 ￿aS the introduction ol a ramp near lo th8 sun terrac8 and charigiiig rooms to make thes& rnora aCC8ssible for all. We have received many enthusiastic and good reviews verbally and on variou8 social media ouuels frorn cuslorners throLJghout the 2023 season.
