Objectives and Activities

SORP reference
Summary of the purposes of
the charity as set out in its
governing document
Para 1.17 The objective of the Cylch Meithrin is to
provide high quality early years and pre-
school education for children aged 2-4 years
through the medium of welsh. We aim to
offer a happy safe, stimulating environment
where children can learn through play,
develop social skills and build confidence.
Summary of the main
activities in relation to those
purposes for the public
benefit, in particular, the
activities, projects or services
identified in the accounts.
Para 1.17 and
1.19
-
During this period our number of
children went from 16 down to 10
due to children starting school.
Nearly al of these children are from
families within the community.
-
We follow the curriculum for funded
non maintained settings in wales and
provide up to 10 hours early
education per week between the
hours of 9am and 11am and the 20
hours childcare topping up to 30
hours per week. Nearly all 3 year
olds access these fundings.
-
Sessions are led by qualified early
years practitioners that undergo
regular training such as
safeguarding, food hygiene, county
trainings on education and more.
-
We had a successful ciw inspection
in October 2024.
-
We have held stalls to fundraise or to
have children’s activities at the local
shows within the area as many
children that attend come from farms.
Statement confirming
whether the trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit
Para 1.18 The Cylch Meithrin provides a vital public
benefit to the local community by offering
accessible and affordable early years
education. We operate an equal
opportunities policy, welcoming children from
all backgrounds, whether welsh-speaking or
families new to the language, ensuring no
unreasonable restrictions on access.

Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 During this period we have worked hard to
ensure the setting remains open as the
financial situation had become quite dire in
the previous year and we came close to
closing our doors. We worked on spending
less and promoting more and managed to
put or finances on the up.
In October 2024 we received an
unannounced inspection by ciw and gained
a good in all areas, showing the hardwork
staff put into improving and making the
Cylch Meithrin a good place for the children
in the local community to grow, learn and
develop together.
