Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 High Hopes is a well established charity
and provides opportunities for children
and adults to experience sporting and
recreational activity outside of their every
day lives. Riders range in age from 4
years to 65 years and there is a good
gender and ethnic balance amongst
participants. In the reporting period there
were 39 riders, comprising 17 children
and 22 adults. Volunteer numbers for the
reporting period are 30. These are
generally able bodied adults who care for
the horses, support rising sessions and
coach riders for competitions. The
number of sessions delivered was 326.
This number was affected by the
restriction imposed by Covid 19. (In the
period 2018-2019 the number of sessions
delivered was 730). The period under
review was affected by the second wave
of Covid and this restricted the number of
riders/volunteers on the premises and the
level of community activity or the group.
High Hopes lost a number of bigger
organisations for example; Special
schools, who had previously sent larger
groups of riders to participate during
term time.
