Independent Examlnerfs Report to the Trustees of The Brftlsh Evacuees Assoclatlon I report on the accounts of the Trust for the year ended 31. March 2024, which are set out on the following pages The respective responsibilitles of trustees and examiner are: As the charivs trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts: you consider that the audit requirement of Section 43{2} of the Charities Act 1993 (the Act) does not apply. It is my responsibility to state, on the basis of the procedures specifled in the General Direction glven by the Charity Cornmissioners under sectlon 43{71 of the Act, whether particular matters have come to my attention. Basis of independent examinerfs report My examlnation was carried out in accordance wlth the General Directions given by the Charlty Commlssioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also included consideration of anv unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeklng explanations from you as trustee5 concerning such matters. The procedures taken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view siven by the accounts. Acting Treasurers Report The number of members has risen compared to the previous year as we have made a conscious effort to recruit new members in the form of other family members, due to the natural fall in the number of evacuee members. The subscription figure has gone up as some have paid more than a years membership in order to bring everyone up to the same date, in readiness for closure in September 2025. The amount of donations has Increased as our members continue to support the Association. They do not want it to close. There has been a push to reduce stock due to the Imminent closure, and applications for Certiflcates has also risen due to the time limit of the Association, Draw ticket sales are reduced due to less members available or purchasin8 them. The utilities have risen due to the rising cost of electricity and rates, in particularly the cost of electriclty has increased slgnificantly. There has been a slight increase in the Insurance Premlum. Prlntln8 and Stationery flgures are reduced due to the less infrequent printing and distribution of The Evacuee,. General postage costs have rlsen. No merchandise stock was purchased in the period due to the imminent closure of The British Evacuees Association concentrating instead on reducing stock levels. The Chlef Executlves Report The publlcatlon of Yhe Evacuee, magazlne from bl-monthly to quarterly has been well received due to It saving postage and printing costs. The members enjoy reading the 16 pa8e ma8azlne when It arrives and there has been no negatlve Issues relating to this. All members who wish to become a Member of the Board of Trustees are asked via the newsletter, to write in stating that they wish to stand as a Trustee. If more people apply than we have places for, they are elected. Mrs Karen Follows continues to work five days a week in the office at Gringley On The Hlll. We continue to employ Lynn Johnson, to assist with the compilation of the accounts using our Sage Offlce Accountin8 package.
The British Evacuees Assoclation st Annual Report for the Financial Year ended 31 March 2024 The British Evacuees Association is based at The Mill Business Centre, Mill Hill, Gringley On The Hill. DNIO 4RA It is a registered Charity with the Charity Commission No 1073507 and constituted by the adoption of the Constitution. The Charity is administered by a Management Committee of which the current members are: Honorary Chief Executive- Mr James Roffey Acting Treasurer- Mrs Karen Follows Other elected members of the Board of Trustees are: Mrs Heather Crank, Miss Linda Roth and Mrs Julie Underhay {Chairman). The objectives of the charity are: l. To relieve the physical and mental suffering of persons who were separated from their families as evacuees during the Second World War, in particular by the provision of counselling and other support services. 2. To advance the education of the public on the subject of child evacuation during World War Two.
