Oxted & Limpsfield Barn Theatre Company Limited CHAIRMAN'S REPORT Dear Shareholders and Friends, Afier all the exciternent of our Centenary y¢ar, we started the year under review in the knowledge that our new carpets and seating were lo arrive during August and there was much to achieve for this project to be COLnpleted seamlessly when the time Came. The theatre w&s to be Closed for almost a month. an unusual occurrence to say the l¢ast. The early months of the year followed their nornia] sequence of TOP'S Panto followed by the SCDF, llo, one of the largest one act play festivals in th¢ UK music nights and dance school showcases. Excellent high quality youth theatre and the sual excellent performances by our resident drama and musical groups. We are so lucky to have a vast wealth of thlent heTe at the barn Bobby Davro was booked to r¢open the theatre in September after the new seating was installed but pulled out some 4 weeks before the show. quoting the need for a family holiday! He will not be invited back to the The improvements to the Barn over the last 20 y¢aTS have increased the insurance value markedly and insurers conducted an inspection of the premises in August listing works which they insisted we complete as soon as possible for cover to continue without restriction. We generally agreed with their proposals to install an intruder alann throughout, modify and extend the fire alarni. move the rubbish bin enclosure and much more. with funds available from donations received during the year. Whilst contractors were on site we took the opportunity to complete other works too. The rear car park was regraded and levelled with over 60 tonnes of gravel and a new roof w&s instajled to the scenery cloth store at the rear of the studio. The entire exterior of the Barn premises was repainted: a new entrance was forn]ed into the sound desk and further modifications were completed to all guttering at the r¢ar of the theatre. A very busy year. Finances remain strong even after all these works and forward bookings look good for the forthcoming year. At Ye end our cash balance w&$ £126,500 after capital expenditure of £135.400. Our old friend depreciation, a non cash item, is in the books at £56,300 and affects our bottom line to the extent that made a paper loss of £9,01 for the vear. The FOBS continue to be Telentless in their work Front of House under the leadership of Paul Robinson but are always looking for new volunteers to join their team. Many of our older volunteers have not Teturned to help since Covid. Ple&8e ta to Paul if you think you or someone you know may be able to assist either by phone 07970847515, or by ¢mail fobs.chaitman barntheatreoxted.co.uk. In January our good fTiend Phil Littleford retired &s a Director and Trustee after 30 years. Phil has suffered from Long Covid and was r¢commended to retire for the good of his continuing health. We are very SOTry to see Phil leave the board, where he was party to all big decisions made during his terni and was aways there when I needed him. An extremely tslented person with a great personality laid low by Covid. Our best ishes go to Phil with thanks for an outstanding contribution to our theatr. We ho to see him back here frequently. Page 4
Peter ma a longstanding Barn volunteer has now agteed to join the board in place of Phil. Well known by many and generally to be found in the wings we are looking fonvard to working with Pete. who is retired and married to Sue, also a great Barn volunteer. I caTmOt close without thanking my team of fellow Directors and TnL%tees who support m¢ relentlessly and spend much time here working to ensure our shows go 0 year after year and that our facility is kept in good order. They are undervalued. Overwork and often forgotten. Despit¢ this. they continue, &s without them, there Could be no Barn Theatre. My even smaller team in Westerham" Lindy and Martin continue to ensure that the day to day affaiTS of the theatre are dealt with efficiently. despite me, and l thank them for their loYty and support. These pages forni part of the annual accounts for 2025. and we look fonvard to seeing you at the forthcoming AGM on Wednesday May 27th at 8pm followed by refr¢shments in the bar after th¢ meeting has finished.
