Prior to the restriclions coming inlo force, plans had been in place for an event in Caerphilly organised in conjunction with Caerphilty County Borough Council to marf( 100 years since the l(ul council commenced local bus operation in the town. Barry had been open lo vlsitors on Fridays and Saturdays up until the initial lockdown in March. Free entry was available to view a selection of the Groups u)Ile¢tion and the progress being made with the restoration of certain vehicles. A group of special needs children from Llanmartin Primary School were given a guided tour of'The Bus Depo on 20 January 2020. CAROIFF 2R 4 264 Joining the CTPG collection on long tenn loan from the Reliance Gn)up at th8 end of 2020 was fomier Westem Welsh AEC Reliance 1284 (WKG 284) ￿th dual purposg bodywork by Willowbrook along ￿'th 1967 fomier Red & White Ecwbodigd Bristol RESL RS767 (IAX 701E). Space limitations resLJlled in the Trustees renewing authority at the AGM to dispose of former City of Cardifflcardiff Bus vehicles should space no longer be available as a rèsult of new arrivals. The vehicles concerned were Daimler Fleetline PKG 532H which was considered beyond the restoration capabilities of the group and Leyland Lynx J262 UDW an identical vehicle to already restored J267 UDW. This authority was nol activated during 2020. CTPG is fortunate to have volunteers with a wide range of skills to restore vahicles in the collection to their fo￿er glory and ensure that once reslore(l are maintained to a high standard with safety inspections to ensure their roadworlhiness and rolling road carried out by independent contractors. Volunteers also assist with the high slaridard of (Kganisation and safe Tunning of public events to ensure the enjoyment and well-being of visitors. Health and Safety matters are regularly discussed at Trustees meetings and investment is made in equipment for the depot to make working conditions as safe as possible for volunteers and lo aid restoration of the fleet. Section D Achievements and performance Y377 GAX: Following mechanical work and some repanelling. this fomier Cardiff Bus low floor Dennis Dart was beginning to receive a coat of gloss paint by the end of 2020. Once complete it will give CTPG a second wheel chair accessible bus so that those with mobilty issues will be able to travel with us at events. Volunteers at CTPG do occasionalty find time for a well eamed cup of tea. Here painter Elwyn Jones is doing what he likes best. CTX 396X: Chassis corrosion on this former Cardiff Bus Bristol VRT was tackled by welding in plates. It requires some M￿hanical work and repainting into its original livery to complete its restoratton. OTG 44R: This AEC Reliance (xjach that was new to a Small Cardiff based coach company has been away to an outside contractor for a complete eThJine rebuild. MBO 512F: A rear hub rebuild was completed on this fomer City of Cardiff AEC Swift just ahead of the December loc4(down but there we still mechanical jobs for our volunteer fitters to undertake before it receives some body attention and a full repaint ahead of the 120th anniversary of the commencement of council run operations in Cardiff in 2022. Section D Achievements and performance C101 HKG: This 1985 Ford Transit retumed trom repaint by Stagecoach early in the year underlining the good relationship enjoyed with a numbar of current bus operators in Ihe area. The good relattonship CTPG enjoyed with present day operators can also be illustrated by the donation of obsolete Dannis Dart spares lo the group by Cardrff Bus. The relationship with Vale of Glamorgan Counul, owners of Barry Bus Depot, also remains gOc￿l. CTPG wishes to record Its gratitude to those organisation5 vtho have klndly assisted during Ihe year. New arrivals and restorations ensure there is 'something nevf to attract visitors back to The Bus Depot. to view progress.
