Achievements and Performance
| SORP reference | ||
|---|---|---|
| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. |
Para 1.20 | Support, friendship and guidance begins the moment you walk through the door at Waterside Gymnastics Club. Children are taught not only physical skills of strength, balance and coordination but also how to cope in differing physical and social environments. They are taught and given the strength to work both autonomously and also as part of a team. Squads work hard to develop their gymnasts to a level where they can compete in local and international levels. During the year TG AGS & Artistic took part in various competitions and grades Artistic 21 gymnasts passed their county grades during the year. 14 of them scored over 55 & 5 of them qualified for the Southern region’s finals. 16 Gymansts also took part in the classic challenge with one qualifying for the southern region finals. Teamgym Boys gymnasts took part in several competitions this year including the junior boy’s micro team who won Gold at the British Finals. Also two of the TG boys were chosen to represent GB in Baku at the TG Europeans finals, where the team came third. |
AGS competed in 4 competitions during the year Gym Ability won Gold at their competition and are just about to compete again. We had annual gala, which is always a good source of fundraising and enjoyed by gymnasts, parents and coaches alike. We are now busy preparing the 2025 Gala. Waterside gym club also realise the importance of coach involvement and development and pay for all necessary training courses. During the year we have put through 9 level 1 coaches in both Team Gym and Artistic. We have also had one coach go onto undertake their level 4 qualifications, and one coach on a level 2 course. We are also actively looking for new qualified coaches and parents to join our bank of parent helpers as the club cannot survive without this support. We have started to appoint assistant heads to help run the sessions and help the head coaches by taking some of the pressure off. All coaches are also required to complete regular safeguarding courses and have a valid DBS in order to ensure not only the physical safety of the children involved but also their personal and mental well-being.

Para 1.41 | We set up various fundraising like Amazon Smile & easy fundraising, during covid but do need to keep reminding people to use them. |

Para 1.41 | |
|---|---|---|
| Other | We have had to make the hard decision with all prices going up to increase our fees from January 2025– this is to cover the increase in rents, NIC & various other price increases in order for the club to continue to operate. We will also be reviewing our fees on a yearly basis to avoid any such high fee increases. |
Financial Review
| Financial Review | ||
|---|---|---|
| Review of the charity’s financial position at the end of the period |
Para 1.21 | These figures include £18,761 in respect of fees received in advance for the Autumn term 2024. |
| Statement explaining the policy for holding reserves stating why they are held |
Para 1.22 | The reserves in the bank are kept for purchasing any large equipment that may be required. For example, a new floor is around £25k, an air track is around £10K, Tumble Track £15K foam for the pits is £20K. All these are starting to get old and will need replacing soon. We have lots of new equipment purchases that we need to make including repairs to the pit and new foam to replace what has been damaged. |
| Amount of reserves held | Para 1.22 | We try to keep £40,000 in the bank to cover the above costs. Reserves at the year end were £48,393 |
| Reasons for holding zero reserves |
Para 1.22 | NA |
| Details of fund materially in deficit |
Para 1.24 | NA |
| Explanation of any uncertainties about the charity continuing as a going concern |
Para 1.23 | We are struggling to get coaches in now, from juniors to Qualified adults. We also have a lot of coaches who may wish to step down, but we do not necessarily have the progression for new people to step up to take over the running of sessions. This is a constant concern as we want to ensure the club can continue. |
