Para 1.20 | Support, friendship and guidance begins the moment you walk through the door at Waterside Gymnastics Club. Children are taught not only physical skills of strength, balance and coordination but also how to cope in differing physical and social environments. They are taught and given the strength to work both autonomously and also as part of a team. Squads work hard to develop their gymnasts to a level where they can compete in local and international levels. During the year TG AGS & Artistic took part in various competitions and grades Artistic 19 gymnasts passed their county grades during the year. One gymnast managed to earn a place on the Southern regional team at the national classic challenge finals on the 9th December. Teamgym Boys gymnasts took part in several competitions this year including |
the junior boy’s micro team who won Bronze at the British Finals . AGS competed at British Gymnastics Gymfusion display in Aylesbury where, following the theme FILMS, they performed a flamboyant and exotic routine for the film Rio. This year we managed to carry out our annual gala, which is always a good source of fundraising and enjoyed by gymnasts, parents and coaches alike. We are now busy preparing the 2024 Gala. Waterside gym club also realise the importance of coach involvement and development and pay for all necessary training courses. During the year we have put though four level 1 coaches in both Team Gym and Artistic. We also have a further seven booked on for this year. We have also had two coaches go onto undertake their level 3 qualifications. During the year in order to keep our junior coaches we introduced a £1.50 per hour pay increase. We lost one Head coach during the year that led to the closure of a squad, we managed to secure a place in other sections to enable the gymnasts to continue. We are also actively looking for new qualified coaches and parents to join our bank of parent helpers as the club cannot survive without this support. All coaches are also required to complete regular safeguarding courses and have a valid DBS in order to ensure not only the physical safety of the children involved but also their personal and mental well-being.

| Statement explaining the policy for holding reserves stating why they are held |
Para 1.22 | The reserves in the bank are kept for purchasing any large equipment that may be required. For example, a new floor is around £25k, an air track is around £10K, Tumble Track £15K, foam for the pits is £20K. All these are starting to get old and will need replacing soon. We have lots of new equipment purchases made at the year-end We also need to have lots of repairs to the gym which is being booked in now. |
| Amount of reserves held | Para 1.22 | We try to keep over £40,000 in the bank to cover the above costs. Reserves at the year end were £73,594. |

| Explanation of any uncertainties about the charity continuing as a going concern |
Para 1.23 | We are struggling to get coaches in now, from juniors to Qualified adults. We also have a lot of coaches who may wish to step down, but we do not necessarily have the progression for new people to step up to take over the running of sessions. This is a constant concern as we want to ensure the club can continue. |
