The Band endeavours to attain the highest standard of performance, and to meet its objectives by the performance of public concerts, recordings, broadcasts and competitions. The Band encourages young musicians who have reached the required standard to further their dovelopment by perfomiing with the Band, as well as carrying out workshop events for local bands and juniorlyouth bands. A "Community Band" was established in the summer of 2024 which invites brass musicians of any standard to enjoy the Bands facilities without any pressure to attain any particular level of playing, it rehearses twice monthly and regularly has 20-30 players at every rehearsal and will undertake its first public engagement in mid 2025. Yorks. The Band competed at three contests in 2024'_ The Northern Regional brass Band Championships, Durham The British Open Grand Shield Contest, Blackpool The Wainstones Cup Contest. Yarm School A quintet from the Band performed at the Stanley Travel Conference at Newcastle upon Tyne, and groups of Band members played Christmas carols at the Alnwick Gardens on three occasions. to raise funds on behalf of the Gardens.
