rescue from the beach
(b) To promote the safety of all beach and water
activities
(c) To develop and promote surf life saving
methods which include all
aspects of first aid and water rescues
(d) To offer coaching and support for surf life

(e) To work as closely as possible with other

Para 1.17 and
1.19
Our main aims can easily be separated into 2
sectors
1) Life Saving skills - All of our members receive
up-to-date first aid training, ranging from basic
life support like CPR and treating burns, across
the board to protocols for incidents involving
Oxygen, defibrillators and spinal boards. These
skills are channelled through our members in
fun training that is geared around the beach
lifeguarding culture to prepare everyone to be
ambassadors for beach safety and
awareness...regardless of age.
2) Competition - Because of our close links to
surf life saving there is a requirement for all
members to maintain, or develop, a level of
fitness throughphysical trainingto be safe in the

sea and promote healthy living. Many members
who particularly enjoy, or excel, in this area will
be actively encouraged to represent the club in
competition; be it on a local or national level.

Achievements and Performance

SORP reference

Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 We have increased numbers in our young 5-7yr
feeder section, allowing for a better age/sex
balance as members progress through the Club
structure.
We have maintained focus on training, both
child participants and adult helpers/coaches,
leading to a more structured approach to
sessions and greater benefit for participants.
Majority of our volunteers now have recognised
SLSGB coaching/safety qualifications.
Annual proficiency training for Club Lifeguards
has been successfully completed, and some
younger members who have achieved Lifeguard
qualification are now working on local beaches
for the RNLI.
We have increased participation in regional and
national competitions, and are active locally in
providing water safety at local/regional events.
