The orchestra performed a programme including the revolutionary Symphonie Fontostique at the Qtkfield festival with local soloist and BBC YO Mwician of the Year percts1on finalist Toril Aualini-machecler and repeated this programme one week later at its normal Irne base of the Capitol Theatre ift Horsham. th 5 Jul 2023 eethoven: Overture-Egmont. Op. 84 Brahms: Piano Concerto No.2 in Bb major. Op. 83 In a departure from its nornial arrangements the orchestra perfornd a short concert on a weekday evening in St Marfs Church. Op. 26 Stfavinsky: Petrushka In another change from its nornial practice the orchestra perfornied a programme at the Hawth Theatre in Crawley. Rachel Ellis, the orchestra's leader stepped up to be 50101st in the ever-popular Bruch I concerto and after the interval the orchestra took on one of its formidable challenges ever in playi Stravinsws Petrushka balleL Throughout the year H20 continued to meet during school terms and took part in two concerts, one a collaboration with a local choir and another promoting its own concert in aid of charity in December 2023. Financial Review The orchestra's accounts show the finanaal perforniance and position of orchestra, including a conrt-by-COnrt breakdown of its income and expenditure. The accounts may be obtsined by wrltlng to the treasurer at the charitvs registered offi. The orchestra's reseNes policy is at any time to carry reserves which would allow it to survive for one year without the benefft of membership subscriptions or donations from patrons or other sources - this is determined as an amount at least equal to the likely deficit arisirE on three concerts assuming a combination of poor ticket sales and significantly higher than anticipated expenses. HORSHAM SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT Year ended 31 December 2023 Inde endent Examinerfs Re ort to the Trustees of Horsham S hon Orchestra I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Horsham Symphony Orchestra "the Orchestra") for the year ended 31 Decernber 2023. Responsibilities and basis of report As the Orchestra's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 20111"the Act"). The Orchestra's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(21 of the Act and that an independent examination is needed. I report in respect of my examination of the Orchestra's accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145{5}(bl of the Act. Independent examinerfs ststement I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect- the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or the accounts did not accord with the accounting records- or the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a 'true and fairf view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination. I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
