We use income from affordable rent and service8 to repay a mortgage on our seven floor building in Central Bri8htoti and tmeet our running costs. In 2023124 we provided over 35 ¢harities and community groups with accommodalion and over 200 such groups with meetTng sp¢ as well as 50 charitable 0up$ with a p05ts1 aditre8S. This year. as with all or8anisatioii& th¢ L05t of lfrving crisis has seen continuing rising energy costs with our contractors passing those costs on alongside rising int¢r¢st rates affecting the rq)ayment of loans As has been the in the last four years. To combat th¢se rising costs w¢ have ntinUed to Tevlcw OUT contracts, still in line with our commitrnent to a circul&r economy. As with the last few years we doing mor¢ fundr8ising and we have won fundiilg that saw the install&iton of a new LED lighting sysfrm. Over the last l O yows our eiiergy Uge h&$ halved but our energy costs have not ¢hanged. Part of our fundraising strategy is now looking for major doi)ors to pay down the large loan we hold and inroads have been made in a¢ce8sing useful nelworks. Community Base has found support through the funder Enjoolala as one oftheir partners funding has been secured frorn theni to buy in wnsultqncy for major donor funding. We are also part of the Community Buildings Network which gives practical support to Community Spa¥es by providing resources and regular talk5.
