Review of Charitable Activities during the year

A very successful fundraising year was spearheaded by the SuperVet event which raised a net £10,000 contribution for the charity account. Sincere thanks to Julian Wells and Geoff Lloyd for leading this.

The Tree of light was again very successful raising in excess of £6,000 with gift aid and our thanks to Iain Gilmour for again leading this.

The Sleigh had one of its best years ever, raising over £9,000, and filled a huge social void for the local community after the trauma of covid. Many thanks to Chris Yaxley and Julian Wells for all their work with this project, especially towing the Sleigh. Thanks also to the refurbishment team who made the Sleigh ready for the Christmas campaign.

We supported the Knitathon organised by Roger and Mavis Sharp which gained us valuable publicity and helped a worthy cause.

Community projects were headed by Alun Humphries who led a team which planted more crocus bulbs around the Abbey and the ever popular Seniors Christmas Party and Carol Service held at the

URC in December. Although we only hosted around 30 seniors it was deemed to be very successful and much appreciated by those that attended.

Independent Examiner’s Report to the Trustees of Shrewsbury Severn Rotary Club Charity Funds

I have reviewed the accounts of the Club for the year ended 30 June 2022. These accounts have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies set out therein.

This report is made solely to the trustees, as a body. My review has been undertaken so that I may state to the Trustees those matters herein I have agreed

Trustees responsibility

The trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts of the club. The trustees consider that an audit is not required and that an assurance review is needed.

Examiner Responsibility

My responsibility is to express a conclusion based on my review of the accounts. My review includes a review of the accounting records kept by the Club and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts. Th procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently

Independent examiner’s statement

In connection with my review, no matter has come to my attention which gives me reasonable cause to believe that, in any material respect, the requirement to keep accounting records in accordance with the Charities Act has not been met; or to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts of the Club to be reached.
