Trustees, Annual Report Report to the trustees of Bollington Christian Life Church Activities and achievements of the charity during the year This is the general report for the Calander and Financial Year 2023 (January 1st- December 31st) The year of 2023 was another year of cont&nuing to build a "Churth Farnlv wfth the members of Lrfe Church Bollington. The coffee mornin& and varlous evenlng courses we ran, usually proceeded wlth food, helped to bring stronger sense of togetherness. The work of Linklng Lfves In the communlty also helped connect people together. In partlcular, 2023 saw the start of a team that met each Monday evenlng and from thls a future projert for 2024 was birthed to visit every IK*usehold in our communlty to engage with the famlly and see what we could do to encourage them. As well as these new Inltiative4 our weekly church meetln8s contlnued to draw people together for worship, teachln8 and communlty, a8aln some of these events were followed by food. a great way to deepen church famlly relatlonshlps. Once agaln the people of the church generou51y 5UPPOrted our partner mlsslon organlsatlon World of Worth wlth regular donations from the coffee mornin& the church itself and also personal 8ivin8 from members of the church. The bulldlng work itself slowed a Ilttle In 2023, as the project of redevelopment drew to a completlon. The flnanclal outlay has now reduced and mostly small maintenance and finishlng works have been carried OLrt. The year of 2024 is bein8 approached wlth enthusiasm from the church as they look forward to really growlng the members through the door to door mlsslon and a new Heallng and Prayer mlnistry. Llfe church could not exlst without the commltment and hard work of the volunteers that falthfully make thlngs happen. These volunteers span very practlcal help. through hospitsllty, accounts, medla and sound, hostln& vlsltln& cleanlng and work partles. Trustees, Annual Report Report to the trustees of Bollington Christian Life Church Financial Review Prlncipal Funding Sources Total restrlcted and unrestricted glfts and donatlons in the 12-month perlod to 31 December 2023 amounted to £102,003 (2022: £103,881), a decrease of 1.8%. Unrestricted income amounted to £70,771 (2022: £86,691), reducing 18.4%. Restricted income increased 81.7% to £31.23112022: £17,190). Total expenses of £106,747 (2022.. £110,917) were Incurred. a decrease of 3.8% of whlch £79,355 (2022: £77,936) related to unrestricted expenditure and £27.392 (2022: £32.981} to restricted expenditure, related to the extension of the church bulldin& missions sponsorship and trips and LCP costs. In the period to 31 December 2023, net outgolng resources were £4,744 (2022: outgoing £7,036) of whlch the unrestricted deficlt amounted to £8,583 {2022: surplus £8,755) and the restrlcted surplus amounted to £3,389 (2022: deficlt £15,791). £1.346 (2022: £15,562) was transferred to the Restricted Fund in the year, from general funds. As at 31 December 2023, the church had total cash funds available to it of £25,381 {2022: £30.125) of whith £18,55512022.. £28.484> was classified as unrestricted and £6,82612022.. £1,641> as restrkted. There were no outstandin8 loans or mort8age5 by the chartty. Freehold land and property, relatlng to Hawthorn Road, Bollln8ton, Macclesfield, Cheshlre, SKIO 5JN Is capitallsed on the balance sheet at £81,670, an opening balance of £54,233 and capltal improvements of £27,437 In the year. A valuatlon was carried out in 2014 that valued land and bulldings at £140,CW. A further £2,260 is held In other flxed assets for whlch the current value is deemed to be £1.466. Investment Pollcy Aslde from bulldlng and retainlng a prudent amount In reserves each year, most of the Charft(s funds are to be spent In the short term to meet the charltles objectlves. Where surplus funds are held over, these wlll be held on deposlt wlthln the Charws main bankln8 facllities. If substantlal funds are bullt up ahead of belng deployed to outwork the Charws objectives, the trustees wlll consider low rlsk bank overnlght depositsry facilltles. Reserves Policy The pollcy of the church Is to keep, In reserve funds, the equlvalent of three months average runnlng costs. The church seeks to be prudent wlth its flnances and Is aware of the possiblllty of fluctuations In its income. It also wlshes to have funds in reserve to take advants8e of opportunltles that arise to expand the work or respond to emergency needs as they arfse. For thls reason, the Trustees deem it wlse to set aside fvnds equlvalent to at least three months average running costs at this time. In order to ensure that funds are kept at thls level the Trustees have agreed to set aside any surplus income and pay It Into the business account on a regular basls until thls level Is reached.
