achievements of the charity,

charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider

Para 1.20 The financing, in cooperation with the
James Cook Hospital Charity, of a
Research Centre for the Heart Unit. This
cost £650,000 of which we provided
£325,000. Prior to this the Heart Unit was
the only one of its size in the country
without a Research Centre. Obtaining the
research facility will enable the
Cardiothoracic Unit to become an
internationally recognised centre of
excellence. The money raised will finance
a leading edge facility which will include
a dedicated clinical setting for patients in
research trials .
During the year under review we agreed
to finance part of the overspend on the
provision of the Research Centre,
providing £60,000, paid in January 2024.
