Achievements and Performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole.	Para 1.20	The financing, in cooperation with the James Cook Hospital Charity, of a Research Centre for the Heart Unit. This cost £650,000 of which we provided £325,000. Prior to this the Heart Unit was the only one of its size in the country without a Research Centre. Obtaining the research facility will enable the Cardiothoracic Unit to become an internationally recognised centre of excellence. The money raised will finance a leading edge facility which will include a dedicated clinical setting for patients in research trials . During the year under review we agreed to finance part of the overspend on the provision of the Research Centre, providing £60,000, paid in January 2024.
