Achievements and Performance
| SORP reference | ||
|---|---|---|
| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. |
Para 1.20 | The events held in the year ended 31 March 2023 are considered by the charity’s members to have been successful in every respect. Feedback received from the public demonstrate that much enjoyment was created amongst all ages of the local population. In addition, the events in the year generated surplus resources which enabled the charity to make 18 donations in the period to a range of community organisations, sports clubs, educational facilities and individuals. The beneficiaries have expressed thanks and re-iterated that the funds provided enable their activities to reach a greater user base, or provided support to individuals without the means or ability to obtain other such support. Alnwick & District Round Table has been an important part of the community since 1953 and its members, past and present, are proud of its achievements and continuing status as a group that has a positive impact in the community, changing and improving lives through its continuing efforts. |

| Review of the charity’s financial position at the end of the period |
Para 1.21 | The financial position as shown in the annual accounts show that the charity is in a position to support further grants as well as incur relevant expenditure to enable events to take place. |
| Statement explaining the policy for holding reserves stating why they are held |
Para 1.22 | A policy of retaining a reserve balance is in place, given that a risk exists that events may be cancelled at short notice due to unforeseen events outside of the control of members, causing a deficit from such an event. Retaining reserves enables the charity to continue to support local good causes with a stronger degree of confidence, particularly in periods of time leading up to events, when expenditure commitments are entered into. |
