Houghton Regis Memorial Hall Fund Trustees annual report for the Year ended 31st July 2022

Aims & objectives

In keeping with the aims of the founding document, the Trustees are empowered, under the rules of the governing instrument:-

Maintain the hall for the purpose of physical and mental training and recreation and social, moral and intellectual development through the medium of reading and recreational rooms, library, lecture classes, recreations and entertainment or otherwise as may be found expedient for the benefits of the inhabitants of the parish, without distinction of sex, or political, religious or other opinions.

Review of the Financial Year ended 31st of July 2022

At the end of the previous year we were slowly coming out of the Covid Lockdowns. Many of the groups meeting in the hall found that some of their members were dubious at returning due to the fear of catching Covid. So at the beginning of this year we saw in the beginning a slow return. It was not too long before the groups meeting pre Covid wanted to start up again, which was very encouraging. We also found that new groups also wanted to meet in the hall, this was very encouraging.

Through the Year we have applied and succeeded to obtain a series of Grants to improve the services we provide in the hall for our community and to maintain the hall to a high standard. It should be noted that our hall needs constant upkeep due to its age. With the help of Grants we have managed to keep up with the repairs to the building and in addition provide extra benefits, for example a modern Projection system with an electronic screen together with a new advanced sound system. We also have a new railings in front of the building.
