Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 As a choir, we place significant importance in
reaching wider audiences by performing in
villages around Cambridge. This means that
audiences, who otherwise would not have the
opportunity to see and hear live music, have
access to high quality, engaging performances.
As we have made an effort to maintain good
relationships with surrounding rural
communities, our concerts in the villages
continued to draw good audience numbers.

Financial Review

Financial Review
Review of the charity’s
financial position at the end
of the period
Para 1.21 We ended the financial year in a more positive
position compared with the previous year due
to a “back to normal” season when we
resumed operations following the lifting of
Covid restrictions. We were able to generate a
comparatively higher income from
performances. We also attracted generous
donations to cover costs for our ambitious
performance of J S Bach’s St Matthew Passion,
from which we were able to claim Gift Aid.
Statement explaining the
policy for holding reserves
stating why they are held
Para 1.22 The main financial risk to the charity is poor
audience attendance and unforeseen
circumstances that prevent rehearsals and
performances, like Covid. We also keep funds
in reserve for ambitious projects which require
additional musicians, such as orchestras.
Amount of reserves held Para 1.22 Unrestricted funds as of 31/08/2023 were
£21,819.
Reasons for holding zero
reserves
