Members of the sect who live in the UK are invited to attend events held throughout the year (about 10). These events are held around the Islamic calendar death anniversary of the revered saints of the sect. The events include the practi￿ of the Chistiya Sufi sect of Sunni Islam which uses Asian musical instruments and singing offered by musical bands to elevate the spiritual states of attendees to attain a higher spiritual Conscien￿ - a form of worship. The format of events starts with spiritual singing which lasts 4 - 5 hours. Other events. in a(Idition to prayer, indude recollecting the stories of the saints of this sect in a seated gathering where attendees offer to read and share spiritual experiences. This type of gathering is a form of training to assist in disciplining the soul, a pre-requisite to attaining a higher spiritual knowledge. Section D Achievements and performance Summary of the main achlevements of the charity during the year The charity offers to its members a spiritual dimension to life, which is the realisation of their inner states through meditation. Enlightenment of the soul is achieved through the use of methods and teachings of the main spiritual leader, Hakim Chotumiya, in whose name this charity is set-up. The charity owns the Former Railway Club on Bolton Rd which is pur(*)ased propety to conduct large events. The other existing prq)erty (71 Preston New Road) allows partial, smaller activities to be fulfilled. The charity continued to receive income. to allow maintenance and sustenance for the charity. Finally. the members and their wider families of the communty also benefit from using The Former Railway Club on a personal basis such as privale family functions if the venue is available and suitable. These private events include birthdays, engagements and so on. The benefit to the charity is that the users are happy to make a payment for hiring the venue lo assist with a modesl model of continued Maintenan￿ and upkeep of the property. The income generated from this type of Servi￿ is critical to the running of The Former Railway Club.
