ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDING 31 JULY 2023
The Collis School Association is a registered charity, No. 1036853. Its address is c/o Collis Primary School, Fairfax Road, Teddington, Middlesex, TW11 9BS.

The Head Teacher, Kevin Hogston, is the ex-officio President of the Association and members of the teaching staff are ex-officio members of the committee.
The charity is governed by the Constitution which was adopted in February 2020. The object of the charity is to advance the education of the pupils in Collis School. In furtherance of this objective the Association:

Developed close and active links between staff, parents and children;

Engaged in activities to support the school and advance the education of pupils; and
-
Assisted in the provision of facilities and items for the education at the school (not provided from statutory funds) in consultation with the Governing body.
Typically, a wide range of social and fundraising events are organised throughout the year. This year the charity hosted another well-attended Fireworks event. In addition, we hosted other events such as the Christmas Fair, Bounceathon and Collis Picnic Party. The total raised from events after expenditure for 2023 was £51,459 (2022: £58,954) (refer to detail on page 7).
During the year donations totalling £53,879 (2022: £61,246) (refer to detail on page 8) were granted to the school to support various projects including:

An allowance of £10,000 (2022: £10,000) (refer to note on page 9) was given to the Head Teacher for use on miscellaneous items for the school.

The level of donations to the school compared to income raised led to a deficit for the year of £2,070 (2022: surplus for year of £2,005). Collis School Association was left with a surplus carried forward of £45,103 as at 31 July 2023 (2022: £47,173).
The Association is dependent on the hard work, time and energy of the committee together with a continued high level of support from the teachers, governors and parents.

EVENTS
During the year, an amount of £51,459 (2022: £58,954) was raised for the school from events held. This was comprised of income of £74,700 (2022: £80,136) and expenses of £23,241 (2022: £21,182). This amount arose from the following events:

1. ACCOUNTING POLICIES
- 1.1 Accounting Convention
The accounts are prepared under the historical cost convention.
- 1.2 Stocks
Stocks purchased for events are treated as an expense of that event when purchased.
2. STOCKS
No material amount of stock was held at year end.
3. OTHER ASSETS
Amounts receivable relate to income pledged for events during the fiscal year but received after year end.
Prepayments consist of deposit amounts paid in advance during the year for events that will take place in the following year.
4. CREDITORS
Creditors are made up of amounts payable to the school including donations and other third-party expenses accrued in the current fiscal year and paid after the year end. The balance at the year-end of £524 (2022: £17,667) consists of a donation to the school for additional resources for the sand pit constructed during the year. The prior year’s total includes a donation of £13,910 of infant playground equipment installed during that year with the amount settled during the current year.
5. TERMLY ALLOWANCE
An allowance of £10,000 (2022: £10,000) was given to the Head Teacher for use on miscellaneous items for the school.

Independent Examiner’s report to the Trustees of Collis School Association
I report on the accounts of the Trust for the year ended 31 July 2023, which are set out on pages 1 to 9.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
Independent examiner’s statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:

the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or
-
the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or
-
the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
