Section D Achievements and performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

How the charity has made a difference Through the pre-school, we have provided a safe environment, within which the children may enhance their development and education. By using the pre-school community, the parents of the children have a resource to draw upon to provide for the needs of their children As detailed above, 39 children this year, along with their parents, have received the benefit of these factors. CHAIR’S REPORT: Please see below a recap of what the Committee has been involved with throughout the 24/25 preschool year: • Committee agreed for a professional cleaning company to be hired by the preschool. We soon cancelled the contract after it not working out. • Committee organised Halloween Colouring Competition to raise funds for preschool. • Christmas Wrap completed with the children to raise funds as well as the Committee helping out with the Christmas concert. • Staff received £100 voucher for Christmas. • Easter colouring competition arranged to raise funds. • Mother’s Day flowers sold to raise funds. • Staff pay rises agreed by Committee to bring in line with current national average . • Consumable charges rising in September 2025 with opt out available. • Preschool fees rising to £20 per session September 2025. • Committee implemented new bereavement policy for staff. MANAGER'S REPORT: The past year has been both productive and rewarding for our preschool. The dedication and hard work of our staff have been instrumental in creating an environment that is safe, enjoyable, stimulating, and nurturing, where every child has the opportunity to flourish. This year, two children with exceptionally high needs required one-to-one support. Thanks to the efforts of our Special Educational Needs (SEN) coordinator, we successfully secured funding to provide these essential resources. This has enabled us to dedicate the time and attention necessary for these children to thrive in our setting. We are delighted to report that both children have now been accepted into specialist schools, which is a tremendous achievement for them and their families. In addition to these two children, we have supported several others who, while not requiring the same level of intervention, have nonetheless needed considerable assistance to access the full range of opportunities we offer. To meet these needs, we have purposefully overstaffed, believing strongly that investing in our team and the wellbeing of the children is far more valuable than retaining funds in savings. Our passion lies in providing the best possible start for every child, even if it means exceeding our wage budget. We are pleased to announce that Tabitha, who joined us as a temporary

one-to-one support worker, has made a significant positive impact on both our staff and the children. Her commitment and effectiveness have led us to offer her a permanent position with us from September. Furthermore, we have enrolled her in an apprenticeship programme to support her journey toward professional qualification, reflecting our belief in nurturing talent within the childcare sector, especially at a time when fewer people are entering the profession. Although we are currently operating at a loss, our financial position has enabled us to continue providing high-quality care and support. Our enrolment numbers for September are promising, especially given the challenges faced by many other providers who are having to consider whether they can remain open. The ability to sustain our provision is largely due to the savings we have accumulated, though these reserves are now beginning to diminish.
