SORP reference
Summary of the purposes of
the charity as set out in its
governing document
Para 1.17
To enhance the development and
education of children primarily under
statutory school age by encouraging
parents to understand and provide for the
needs of their children.
Summary of the main
activities in relation to those
purposes for the public
benefit, in particular, the
activities, projects or
services identified in the
accounts.
Para 1.17 and
1.19
Offer appropriate play, education and care
facilities, together with the right of parents
to take responsibility for and to become
involved in the activities, ensuring that our
pre-school offers opportunities for all
parents and children whatever their race,
culture, religion or means of ability.
Encourage the study of the needs of
children and their families and promote
public interest in and recognition of such
needs in local areas.
Statement confirming
whether the trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit
Para 1.18 The trustees meet monthly with the staff to
ensure that the Pre-School continues to
maintain a high quality of education and
care for the benefit of the children in
attendance.
Trustees monitor the finances on a regular
basis and ensure that all funds raised are
used to benefit the children at the pre-
school by improving resources.
When making decisions about the level of
fees to charge parents for childcare at the
pre-school, the Trustees benchmark the
fees with other local pre-schools. This
ensures that the fees are affordable for as
wide a range of parents as possible.
In pursuing the purposes above, the
trustees have had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity Commission on
public benefit and consider these to be of
benefit to all families in the local community
and surrounding area.

Para 1.20 During the FY 2023 - 2024 we continued
to build on the ‘outstanding’ status awarded
by Ofsted. We provided an outstanding
level of childcare and preschool education
to families in Ogbourne St. George and the
surrounding villages and towns.
Our financial position improved throughout
the year with increasing numbers of
children taking advantage of the excellent
facilities available.
The change in the management structure,
which occurred during the previous year,
continued to benefit the pre -school with
increased numbers and greater enthusiasm
from staff and parents alike.
We provided support to families going
through significant financial challenges.
We successfully raised funds for the
ongoing supply and improvement of
resources through fundraising events such
as autumn and easter parties, and a
summer fair to celebrate the 40th
anniversary of the pre school.

We worked closely with the Village Hall Committee as their major user and tenant. We also have a close relationship with local primary schools and staff liaised with the school teachers to ensure a smooth transition for children from pre-school to school.
