Trustees Report – 2022/23

9[th] November 2023 at 19.30 6[th] Form Centre Senior School

It has been a thoroughly enjoyable year with the return to almost ‘normality’ after the last couple of years.

We have been astounded by the impressive efforts the committee and wider volunteer group have displayed in running our fundraising events through the year and also to all those wonderful supporters who have attended and enjoyed those events.

A special mention must be given to the key people who have made sure that our Society’s relationship with school and staff, pupils and other parents and guardians have continued. Mr McCullough, Mr Edwards, Simon Crossman, Michelle Bailey, Danielle Critchley and Zoe Livingstone, as well as Rob and all the maintenance team. Everyone has worked incredibly hard to make sure the year’s events have run smoothly and enjoyably.

In brief, from our fundraising efforts and subscriptions received, our Society received a total income of £32,980.05 and total expenditure was £18,975.14. Total profit for the year was £16,004.91. The majority of the income was achieved through:

Donations to the school were as follows:-

There has been a motion passed at our AGM to write off the credit against Collegiate School for the Bobble Hats stock. Therefore, in essence, this was another donation of £2,057.83.

Two committee officer positions have been elected, Olivia Eves was nominated and seconded for the role of Secretary and voted into the role with unanimous support. Katrina Caffery O’Connell was nominated and seconded for the role of Treasurer. She is working with Co-Chair

and Trustee Louisa Massey over the year before taking sole responsibility for the role in September 2024.

In line with the new constitution, the committee voted on a motion to adopt a 3-year rotation for election of roles from the next AGM (2024)

Year 1 – Chair, Social Media lead

Year 2 – Treasurer, Vice Chair Year 3 – Secretary, Uniform Shop lead

A valid question was raised by those in attendance at the AGM: Are candidates able to run for more than one 3-year rotation? Yes, the constitution specifies that members can continue to be members for the duration of their children/s time at the school. There is no limit to the number of 3-year rotations people can stand for. However, they cannot be a part of the charity’s committee if their child/children leave the school.

The biggest vote of the AGM was the proposal to change the name of the Society in line with the name change of the school and the adoption of the new constitution (provided by ParentKind – the national body for PTA and Parent Associations) to reflect this. The motion was unanimously voted for in favour.
