A sul>commlttee of trainlng assessors also meets regularfy and advises the Trustee8 about progress of search dog teams. 3. Relatlonshlp wlth other ¢harltl•s wlth slmllar obJectlv•s The Association works closely with mountsln rescue teams In the Lake District, with its local umbrella body, the Lake District Search and Mountain Rescue Association, and Mountain Rescue(England and Wales), the natlonal body. Assoclatlon members are drawn from individual Lake Dlstrict mountain rescue teams. It also liaises closely thqth slster organisations in thi8 country and abroad, in order to disseminate knowledge and1è8m from others. arKI Is an 88soclate member of the ICAR (Intematlonal Comm1881on for Alplne R88cue). On one of these, a vlsttlng se•rGhdog, Bramble from the north east, found a missing vulnerable woman in fore8try near Kegwtck. Search Dog Broch (Kegwlck) located a missing man in Borrowdale early In the year, and also assisted SARDA Wales with a blg search In the Carneddau. Search Dog Je8s (Wasdale) contlnues lo Support Wa8dale MRT and ha8 been instrumentsl In olther findlng or locating a number of mlsper8 In the Scafell area. In total, the team8 responded to 33 requests for asBl8tanGe wlth locatlng m1881ng per80n8. Two new 8earchdogs, Cellldh, an Engllsh Shepherd, and Rlver, a Border CollSe have been added to the operational team, now numberlng 8 . Thls has at tlmes been reducad by illness or injuries. Three more teams are currently in tralnlng - Something of a drop by comparlson wlth prevlous year8. We have also lost Search Dog Lewis to forced early retlrement because of Injury. and Search Dogs181a and Fem at tho end of long and dlstlngulshed careers. Our TraSllng dog Brock ha8 al80 8tood down- which has left us wlth a much depleted callout118t. Tralning contlnuès, both monthly and weekday evenlngs, but has been affected by the avallabilty of 888essors & tralners at tlmes- often caused by the huge demand on local rescue teams from where our personnel are drawn. We are Indebted to our volunteers vtho come out in all y￿ather8 to act as casualtle8. and local18ndowners thllo make land for tralnlng available The retiremont from assesslng by Laura Connolly and Joy Grindr<xl, two experienced tralners had an impact, whilst overall the monthly programme has continued to suffer because of the pressure of increasing visitor numbers on accommodation, parklng and congestion. Accordingly, last year, we made no grants to other charitable organisations, and all expenditure was geared to supportlng Its own charitable obje¢tSves. 9. Rlsk manag•mont & trustee Indemnity insurance The trustees have ¢onsidered the major risks wthlch Ihe charity faces, and confimi that its system of regular meetings to review progress, expenditure and costs provides a robust mechanism to lessen those risks. Those funds not invested are held in UK banks and building societies, viithin the £85K mit of financial compensation. with a requirement of t￿ signatories lor any transaction. The Trustees continue to invest in indemnty insurance to protect them against legal action. The law applicable to charities in England and Wales requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which gpie a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of the income resources and application of resources of the charity for that period.
