Financial Review
| Financial Review | ||
|---|---|---|
| Review of the charity’s financial position at the end of the period |
Para 1.21 | As a result of the substantial legacy donated to the Charity in the period covered by this report, the Trustees regard its financial position as very strong. Continuing membership subscriptions broadly cover the recurring costs of fees paid to lecturers, and could be raised without detriment to membership numbers if required. The substantial balance of the Charity’s fund is very much more than sufficient to enable the Charity to fulfil its charitable objectives. |
| Statement explaining the policy for holding reserves stating why they are held |
Para 1.22 | As the charity has no financial obligations that would fall due on a decision to wind it up, the Trustees do not regard it as necessary to hold a reserve. All accounting is on a cash basis. |
| Amount of reserves held | Para 1.22 | Zero |
| Reasons for holding zero reserves |
Para 1.22 | Please see above |
| Details of fund materially in deficit |
Para 1.24 | Not applicable |
| Explanation of any uncertainties about the charity continuing as a going concern |
Para 1.23 | There are no current uncertainties about the charity continuing as a going concern |
| Additional information (optional) You may choose to include further statements |
where relevant about: | |
| The charity’s principal sources of funds (including any fundraising) |
Para 1.47 | Income in Financial Year 2022 was exceptional as the result of a substantial legacy of £26,000.00 from the estate of a late Member of the Friends. The charity’s normal source of income is in membership fees, set at £15 p.a. for single and £25 p.a. for joint membership, deliberately set at affordable levels to encourage wide participation. This is enhanced by occasional fund-raising programmes for specific purposes. |
| Investment policy and objectives including any social investment policy adopted |
Para 1.46 | The Charity’s investment policy is to obtain the best return possible without risk, by investing in interest- bearing funds protected by the FSCS |
| A description of the principal risks facing the charity |
Para 1.46 | By maintaining prudent funds, and in the complete absence of financial obligations, the sole material risk facing the charity would be a significant reduction or total withdrawal of funding of the Museum by the local authority, causing the closure of the Museum. The would leave the charity without purpose and necessitate its wind-up |
