Para 1.20 The Society has facilitated 4 public
performances within the year. One of the
performances was of a new work
commissioned by the Society, exposing
members and audience to modern choral
music offering technical challenge to our
members and a “premiere” to the public.
Performances have included guest
orchestral musicians and singer soloists and
pupils from the local school. One of the
soloists was an international opera singer
accompanied by a concert pianist.

Review of the charity’s
financial position at the end
of the period
Para 1.21 Income has exceeded expenditure by £2833.
Our available assets at the end of July 2023 were
£17,167 (unrestricted funds). For comparison in
July 2018 (afer getng up to date with Gif Aid)
our assets were £17,412. We also have £9410 of
Pat Swain’s legacy to underwrite the cost of
performing high quality concerts (restricted).

Para 1.22 Reserves are held to take account of general
expenses and employees wages and the
expense of future concerts. In general our
assets are are reduced each year as
concerts generally lose money and we rely
on occasional legacies to give us the
financial security to plan worthwhile events.
