Aetlvftles: Human Organ Preservation Research Trust acts as an inform￿10n rc50urce for potential cryonics patients and their familTes, other cryonics groups. medica] service providers, regulatory bodies, the media and the general public. We carry out research and development in respect of emergency protocols techniques and equipmenL We also reseaKh the legal and logistical considerations affecting cryonics. rvation R rt of the Trustee for the Year En 31 Deeember 2024- eontinued Researeh: Febnwy-march - Two eryonics cases were handled Simultaneously by Cryonics UK. the patients having died one day apart. Both cases were in London and involved a last minute sign-up with US cryonics storage provider. Cryonics Institute. Both patients were transferred to the US on the same fli8hL demonstrating that the 200kg dry ice limit was applied per wntainer rather than per aircraft by th¢ airline. - Case I: This w&s a cancer patient who benefitted from a full standby* Stabilisation and CryOPTOtective perfusion. The Cryonies UK emergency team deployed with a paramedic to assist with stabilisation and perfusion procedures. This was the first use of the revised VMI perfusion protowl utilising an initial perfusate concentration of 5%. This was the first cryonics ease in the UK to be subject to the jurisdiction of the newly c￿ted role of the Medical Examiner. The ME is responsible for double checking the medical history and ¢ause of death issued by the attending doctor. The ME also has the power to refer the matter to the coroner. - Case 2: This patient had suffered an unexpected death and cryopreseryation arngements were made post n￿rtern. Consequently. the patient was subject to a'straight freeze, as stsbilisation and perfusion ￿t ¢)nly ￿rrIed out if the patient can be reached relatively quickly. August- Cryonics Me in Newark involving a last minute sign-up with Cryonics Institute. This cancer patient passed away before the emergency team reached them, however, due to the relatively short delay, they W¢Te 5tTII able to benefit from stabilisation and Cryoprotective perfusion.
