**Objectives:** 3. Purposes The SCIO is established solely for charitable purposes, namely: To advance education and citizenship or community development through promoting the effectiveness or efficiency of charities by helping those charged with the responsibility for and with the oversight duties of the management of charities' investments by the provision of guidance and mentoring in relation to investment matters.    In furtherance of this (but without limitation): • To provide independent, experienced volunteer mentors who offer non-binding guidance on good practice in investment stewardship, oversight, and management, taking account of a charity's objectives, risk profile, reserves policy, ethical considerations and statutory duties. • To assist (on request) with reviewing investment policies or portfolios, discussing approaches to working with investment advisers, and signposting to specialist professional advice where appropriate. • To organise occasional peer-learning or knowledge-sharing sessions on investment oversight topics for charity trustees and officers.
