## **73rd Dundee (Downfield Mains) Rainbows** ## T **rustees’ Annual Report and Accounts for the 12 months to 30 June 2026 Scottish Charity Number SCO 54513** ## **Current Trustees** Alison Collin Jacqueline Nicoll Alison Niven The trustees were in office throughout the period of the account and to the current date. ## **Contact address** 365 Kingsway, Dundee, DD3 8LG ## **Recruitment and appointment of Trustees** The Trustees are the Unit Guide Leader and Assistant Guide Leader, trained and warranted by Girlguiding UK to run the unit, along with the District Commissioner, appointed by Girlguiding Dundee to oversee the units in the area. ## **Governing Document** The unit and leaders are affiliated to Girlguiding UK and follow their policies and related statement which which provide a structure in which Guiding can take place safely, consistently and in accordance with legislation. ## **Charitable Purposes** 73rd Dundee (Downfield Mains) Rainbows exist to enable girls and young women to develop their potential and to make a difference to the world. The aim of Girlguiding is to help girls and young women develop emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually so that they can make a positive contribution to their community and the wider world. ## **Activities and Achievements.** The Rainbows have enjoyed working on various aspects of the Girlguiding programme and have received badges throughout the year. We were proud to present our first Bronze and Silver Awards at our Thinking Day Service in February which was well supported by Parents and Friends. They also attended Girlguiding Dundee’s Thinking Day event along with units from all over Dundee. We continued with termly subs this year which included the Annual membership fee so that it was spaced out over the year. Parents seem to prefer this and it is easier for accounting and has had a positive effect on our finances allowing us to pay Annual subscriptions to Girlguiding without worry. The girls enjoyed a joint Hallowe’en party and Easter Fun Night with the Brownies and Guides as well as their own Christmas Party with a visit from Santa Claus. We also attended a special Girlguiding Screening of Zootropolis 2 at the Odeon Cinema. ‘221we Our end of session treat for the girls was a Teddy Bears Picnic to celebrate Winnie the Pooh’s 100th Birthday. They also completed the Winnie the Pooh Challenge Badge. Two of our Rainbows moved on to Brownies after the Easter break and we have another 6 ready to go after the summer holidays so we look forward to welcoming new girls from our waiting list at the start of the new session. We were very lucky to receive two different grants during the year. One for £607 from Dundee Partnership to provide resources for use within the unit which was very welcome. The other was for £1340 from the Corra Foundation as part of their Make it Happen Scheme.
