The expression 'charitable purpose' shall mean a charitable purpose as defined in the Act.  3.2 The purpose of this Charge relates to the provisions of paragraph 12 of Canon 36 of the Canons, which provides inter alia that if an Incumbency shall become so reduced in numbers or in financial resources that the constitution of the church can no longer be kept in operation, nor provision be made for the maintenance of the ministry the bishop of the diocese concerned may, after due consultation, make such provision as seems best for the pastoral care of the people.
