Achievements and performance

EGTG presented a season of six theatrical performances in 2025, with performances in venues across Edinburgh, including the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and two performances in regional venues in Fife as part of the SCDA One Act Festival.

Feb - May 2025

EGTG participated in the SCDA One Act Festival with a presentation of Being Norwegian by David Greig. The production was directed by Paul Arendt and starred Jenna Donoghue and James Hay. Tara Sallis (Stage Manager) and Dug Campbell (Sound Design) completed the crew.

The cast and production were highly praised by audiences and festival adjudicators alike, and would go on to reach the Scottish Final for the first time in recent memory, with a performance at the Adam Smith Theatre in Kirkcaldy.

Following the final performance in May, EGTG received the devastating news that James Hay, who had played Sean in the production, had suddenly passed away. EGTG would like to commemorate this dedicated and talented young man in this report. James Hay and Jenna Donoghue in Being Norwegian . Photo by Tony Flisch. ~~>~~ 5

Apr/May 2025

EGTG’s main season looked at the topic of mental health, beginning with a production of Incognito by Nick Payne, directed by Alexander Cook. The production received a four star review from local theatre publication All Edinburgh Theatre which said it was “ a marvellous rendition ”.

June 2025

In June, EGTG presented Tennessee Williams’ Suddenly Last Summer at Assembly Roxy, directed by Ross Hope. In the run up to the production, EGTG organised a stall at the Edinburgh Canal Festival to promote the show and introduce new audiences to the theatre company. Again, the production was well received by audiences and local critics, with All Edinburgh Theatre praising the “ ” utterly convincing performances .

- August 2025 EdFringe

EGTG participated in the 2025 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, presenting two contrasting productions in the Hepburn Suite of the Royal Scots Club. Jenny Tamplin directed a riotous version of Dario Fo’s The Virtuous Burglar , while director David Grimes gave us a contemporary dark comedy with Lucy Kirkwood’s The Children . The shows attracted a combined audience over 500 across 6 nights, with critical reviews highlighting the strong performances of both casts.

November 2025

EGTG’s final production of 2025 was delivered by director Jac Wheble and a large ensemble cast and crew. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time , adapted by Simon Stephens from the novel by Mark Haddon is a richly theatrical exploration of this touching and bleakly humorous tale.

Premiered in 2012 by the National Theatre in association with Frantic Assembly, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time gave the cast and creative team the opportunity to explore elements of physical theatre and movement which were put to great use.

The cast played to sold out audiences for its final performances, and earned a five-star review from local cultural website The QR who said it was “an excellent ” show with great production values and a skilled cast .
