and arts events etc|| **2** ## **APPENDIX 1** ## **Achievements and performance** **Summary of the main achievements of** In each financial year, the Festival of Europe (Scotland) is our main activity. In 2025, the Festival took place **the charity during the financial period** from 3 to 11 May. Coinciding with Europe Day on 9 May, a day to celebrate the values and benefits of peace, democracy and cooperation amongst Europe’s nations, the well attended 2025 Festival grew to include 16 * activities and spread across 4 of Scotland’s regions. Over 20 * partners joined in. The programme highlighted tangible ways in which Scotland engages with the wider European continent, and in 2025 included activities in Edinburgh, Fife, Glasgow and Stirling. A weekend of key speaker events included a conference with the European Movement in Scotland on the challenges facing liberal democracy in Europe, and how citizens’ movements can help meet these challenges. The second conference examined the UK�EU reset. In partnership with the Scottish Council on Global Affairs, experts shared perspectives on how the UK and Europe are perceived globally. EuroWalks in Kirkcaldy, Edinburgh and Glasgow offered opportunities for people to come together to learn about Scotland’s historic European connections. A one day conference organised by the Citizens’ Rights Project offered a platform for voices from European communities across Scotland. The Connecting Europe Fair was a drop in event at the French Institute in Edinburgh. It promoted opportunities for 18�30 year olds through a range of information stalls such as Interrail EuRail and the Erasmus student exchange programme, and family art workshops. Cultural events in this year’s programme of partner activities included a film screening, community gatherings and an evening of song. Business and education were the focus of a panel session at Panmure House on Europe’s competitiveness. The Trustees are very grateful for all the support of partners and the many volunteers, all of whom contributed to the planning a and delivery of a very successful festival, in its second year.
