Largs Food Hub has provided affordable access to food to top up members’ weekly food shops as there is only 1 large supermarket in the locality. The hub is open twice a week and managed by volunteers. We buy in bulk and stock a wide variety of food including fresh and frozen items. Fruit, fresh vegetables and bread are included free of charge. We provide free dental hygiene products, feminine hygiene products, pet food and other donations we receive. As we are only partially funded by the Fairer Food Network, we boosted our income from grants, fundraising events and donations enabling weekly costs to remain the same for members. We have provided members with free shops, soup packs and prepared meals. There is regular weekly attendance of 35 to 45 members. We have listened to feedback to stock items favoured by members. Largs Food Hub is managed by volunteers to ensure it is available for all the community.
