Objectives and activities

Charitable Purpose

EmpowerHer has been established to provide meaningful support and benefits to African women. The organization’s mission is rooted in several charitable purposes, each designed to address key areas of need and opportunity for African women both within their communities and in the broader multicultural context of Scotland.

Advancement of Women’s Health, Arts, Heritage, Culture, and Science

One of EmpowerHer’s primary purposes is to advance the well-being of women through promoting health, arts, heritage, culture, and science. This is accomplished by organizing events that celebrate African culture and languages. Additionally, the organization conducts sensitization programs focused on women’s well-being, aiming to raise awareness and provide education on important health and cultural topics.

Promotion of Equality and Diversity

EmpowerHer is dedicated to fostering equality and diversity, particularly among women. The organization encourages support networks where women can share their experiences and participate in activities that embrace and celebrate the rich diversity found within multicultural Scotland. Furthermore, EmpowerHer organizes events that not only promote African cultures to the host community but also facilitate opportunities to learn about the cultural values of the host society, fostering mutual understanding and respect.

Relief for Those in Need

A key charitable purpose of EmpowerHer is to provide relief to individuals experiencing need due to age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship, or other forms of disadvantage. The organization addresses these needs by distributing food, clothing, and other essential goods to disadvantaged communities. Attention is given to immigrant women and their children who have no recourse to public funds, ensuring that some of the most vulnerable members of society receive the support they require.

Activities of the Charity

Organisational Development

In January 2025, EmpowerHer SCIO developed and launched its official website. The website was developed to ensure visibility, accessibility, and effective community engagement.

Community Education and Awareness

Following repeated community bereavements and the frequent use of emergency fundraising for burial expenses, EmpowerHer organised an educational webinar on life insurance and general health awareness . A qualified life insurance broker was invited to support women and their families in

3

understanding the importance of planning ahead, protecting loved ones, and maintaining good health. EmpowerHer also hosted a financial literacy webinar designed to improve understanding of budgeting, money management, and financial responsibility, with the aim of reducing the risk of homelessness among women in the UK.

Food Support and Practical Assistance

During the Easter period, EmpowerHer delivered a food support initiative , reaching 10 women and their families with essential food items. This intervention targeted individuals experiencing financial hardship.

Community Engagement and Mutual Support

In 2025, EmpowerHer’s WhatsApp community expanded to 1,024 members , strengthening peer connection and support.

A community-led initiative titled “Reach Out to the Needy” was introduced. Running every Saturday, the project encourages members to share pre-loved clothing, household items, and other essentials with those facing immediate need, fostering unity, dignity, and mutual aid.

Women’s Empowerment Programme

In August 2025, EmpowerHer delivered a one-week empowerment programme titled “Empower a Woman, Change the World.” The programme focused on:

As part of this initiative, 20 women received £50 grants to support the purchase of school uniforms for their children ahead of the new academic year.

Immigration Advice and Legal Awareness

In response to growing concerns around immigration uncertainty and policy changes, EmpowerHer organised an immigration information webinar in September 2025. An experienced immigration lawyer provided guidance on current policies, rights, and available options, helping members reduce anxiety and make informed decisions.

Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing

Recognising the emotional and psychological pressures faced by many women, EmpowerHer hosted a wellbeing webinar led by a qualified mental health nurse . The session focused on understanding mental health challenges, managing stress, and accessing appropriate support.

Environmental and Community Action

In November 2025, EmpowerHer delivered a litter-picking and environmental awareness project across Glasgow and Paisley . Community members and volunteers came together to clean public spaces, promote environmental responsibility, and encourage civic pride. The project also

4

strengthened community cohesion by bringing women together to take positive action within their local areas.

Skills Training and Employability

In December 2025, EmpowerHer supported 10 women to enrol in certified phlebotomy training . All participants successfully completed the programme and received recognised certificates, enhancing their employability and access to healthcare-related roles.

Overall, 2025 was a year of meaningful grassroots impact for EmpowerHer SCIO, delivered through strong volunteer commitment, with a continued focus on empowerment, wellbeing, skills development, and community resilience.

Financial Review

Our future is to continue increasing our fundraising to achieve our vision. EmpoerHer main sources of income comprise following.

EmpowerHer main source of funding mainly comes from Grants and donations. During 2024-25, Charity has achieved success in receiving grants 0f £10,000 (out of which the largest-Robertson Trust Fund –£4,000) and donations of £490.

Furthermore during 2024-25, EmpowerHer made payments of £5,874 -restricted-£1,784 and unrestricted funds- £4,090 regarding charitable activities.

Future

EmpowerHer depends on donations and grants to provide public services. If income drops, the charity cannot commit to long-term plans such as employment opportunities. Trustees should focus on boosting fundraising to ensure EmpowerHer remains operational.

The EmpowerHer fundraising committee works to maintain EmpoerHer's sustainable income.
