The Club is utilised on a monthly or weekly basis by many local organisations, including amongst others a Readers Group, U3A, a Bridge Club, SWI, the Alzheimers Society, a music tutor, the local Community Council, and Dumfries & Galloway Council. Several organisations hold committee meetings in the Club. The local parish Church holds monthly coffee mornings, and an acoustic band hold informal “jamming” sessions. Such activities run by the user-groups, are a means of allowing attendees various opportunities for people to take up pastimes or pursuits that will be beneficial to their physical and/or mental health and wellbeing, and for learning and practising skills. These opportunities can help reduce social exclusion and so allow an improvement in conditions of life

Objectives: Purposes 4 The organisation's purposes are: (a) The provision of a recreational facility, which is accessible to all and affordable, with the object of being a place which aims to improve the conditions of life for residents, of all ages, living in Thornhill or the surrounding communities, by encouraging use by groups or individuals, which may provide : opportunities to people to take up pastimes or pursuits that will be beneficial to their physical and/or mental health and wellbeing. an opportunity to reduce social exclusion. opportunities for learning and practising skills facilities and services for people to enjoy educational, social, physical or mental recreation
