## **Trustees’ Annual Report**
The trustees present their first Report and Accounts for the Period Ended 31 March 2026.
## **STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT.**
## **Constitution**
The Charity is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (a SCIO). It was registered on 13 November 2024. The charity is a single-tier SCIO with a Board. The people serving on the Board are also charity trustees and members of the organisation for the purposes of the Scottish Charities Act.
## **Appointment of trustees**
Trustees are those who initially signed the trustee declarations when the charity was incorporated. New trustees can be appointed by the Board. There must be a minimum of four and a maximum of nine trustees.
## **Objectives and activities**
## **Charitable purposes**
The Charity’s purposes are: (a) the prevention or relief of poverty, (b) the advancement of education, (c) the advancement of health, (d) the advancement of citizenship or community development, (e) the advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science, (f) the advancement of environmental protection or improvement, (g) the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage.
## **Activities**
The charity was established with a gift to create an expendable endowment fund, so that the annual income can be used to award small grants to local community-based groups which further the charitable purposes of the organisation. Given the limited resources available, the Trustees do not have the capacity to respond to unsolicited applications from large regional and national charities.
## **Achievements and Performance**
In this initial period of reporting since incorporation on 13 November 2024, the Trustees have invested the funds in suitable long-term accounts to generate initial income. The aim is to re-invest 50% of income each year to grow the endowment fund, which will generate higher annual income for future distribution.
## **Future plans**
The Trustees will make first small grant awards in the coming financial years.
## **Financial Review.**
The total income for the period was £33,466. In this initial period of reporting there was nil expenditure resulting in a net income of £33,466.
## **Reserves Policy**
The Trustees have determined to grow the expendable endowment fund to generate higher annual income for future distribution.

## **Statement of Trustee Responsibility**
The trustees prepare financial statements which give sufficient details to enable an appreciation of the transactions of the charity during the financial year. The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which, on request, must reflect the financial position of the charity at the time. This must be done to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005, the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended). They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and must take reasonable steps for the prevention and/or detection of fraud and other irregularities.

## **Independent Examiner's Report to the Trustees of North Shore Charitable Trust**
I report on the accounts of the charity for the period ended 31 March 2026 which are set out on pages 7 to 9.
## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner**
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006.
The charity trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (d) of the Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44(1) (c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
## **Basis of independent examiner’s statement**
An examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeks explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.
## **Independent examiner’s statement**
In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements to keep accounting records in accordance with Section 44 (1)(a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations, and to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with Regulation 9 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations have not been met, or
2. to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
