| Summary of the main activities | |
| in relation to these objects | This project delivered a year-long series of community-focused events and services designed to empower individuals, strengthen families, and address poverty through education, support, and advocacy. The programme began with a Conference and Empowerment Series, using conversations, talks, and storytelling in local venues to promote resilience, collaboration, financial management, and collective action, helping to combat isolation and inspire radical social change. Throughout the year, practical support initiatives were delivered, including the Community Essentials Hub, which provided free food, clothing, baby items, hygiene kits, and household essentials, offering immediate relief to families in need. Financial stability was further supported through a Financial Wellness and Debt Relief Clinic, offering budgeting workshops, one-to-one debt advice, and homelessness prevention in partnership with credit unions and debt charities. A Benefit Support and Advocacy Seminar helped community members access housing benefits and entitlements, reducing benefit denial and maximizing financial support. Leadership and empowerment were strengthened through the Voices of the Community Research Project, a participatory study capturing lived experiences of poverty within the Black community to influence local policy and decision-making. Youth and future-focused initiatives included Mentoring and Work Skills for Black Youth, providing career guidance, confidence building, internships, and skills training, creating pathways out of poverty. Community wellbeing was supported through social and cultural gatherings that shared practical teachings on finances, dignity, and resilience, reducing stigma and strengthening trust, with added group savings schemes. The year concluded with Annual Community Impact Events, including a Youth and Single Parents Empowerment Project, offering parenting support, peer networks, essential supplies, and training for remote work— strengthening wellbeing, independence, and long-term economic self- sufficiency across the community. |
