We have 50 to 60 members who meet every two weeks at the charity venue at the Munlochy Village Hall, membership is open to anyone upon request and payment of the subscription fee. The activities range from classes, hand on demonstrations, quiz, competitions, lectures, raffles all related to woodturning. Members have free access to lathes, bandsaw, sanders, sharpening and a vast range of woodturning tools. Training sessions are regularly organised. The charity has a Board of Trustees which is the governing body, the trustees are elected amongst the members at an AGM. The club engage with the Highland communities and has organised public demonstrations to schools, Scouts, other woodturners associations and cooperate with similar charities in the area. In the last year we have several young people and several women joining the club bringing a broader diversity and wider knowledge. The club offers a regular and safe meeting environment where members can exchange ideas and experiences
Beneficiaries: 'No specific group, or for the benefit of the community'
Objectives: To promote the art and craft of woodturning for the public benefit and in doing so raise the appreciation of the creativity, skill and heritage of woodturning. To provide opportunities for all who are interested, to learn, practice and improve the skill of woodturning and give special consideration to the young and people with physical and learning difficulties. To reduce the isolation of men and women in the area and thus contribute to their physical and mental wellbeing. To develop the capacity of men and women to safely meet and undertake creative, physical, purposeful and recreational activities and to share their skills and knowledge with others in the community. To act as a body to improve understanding of woodturning through the provision of equipment, information, and communication. To encourage the use of timber from sustainable sources. To promote healthy and safe working practices for woodturning.
