Structure, governance and management
Trustee recruitment and appointment The first Trustees of the SCIO are the individuals who apply to OSCR for registration of the SCIO (the “ First Trustees ”).
Thereafter The Trustees or the Members may by resolution at any time appoint as a Trustee any person who has confirmed his willingness to act, either to fill a vacancy should one arise for any reason or as an additional Trustee, but so that the maximum number of Trustees fixed by or in accordance with the Constitution is at no time exceeded.
Objectives and activities
Charitable purposes
The purposes of the SCIO are:- (i) The advancement of environmental protection or improvement, particularly in relation to climate change and biodiversity through (amongst other things):- a. The restoration, preservation and conservation of the natural environment; b. the restoration, conservation or protection of wildlife in general or of particular species, habitats primarily in Scotland; c. the advancement of education, research and knowledge at all levels and promoting understanding of the role and importance to society of rewilding and biodiversity in the natural environment; and (ii) to promote similar charitable purposes, objects or institutions in such proportions and manner as the Trustees think
Summary of the main activities in relation to these objects
In the face of the ongoing climate and ecological emergency, we spent the last year taking direct action to revive natural processes, rebuild native habitats, and drive local biodiversity. Simultaneously, we have strengthened community-based climate action. By expanding access to inclusive green spaces, our programs successfully connected local residents with nature, through hands-on conservation, volunteering and environmental education.
Achievements and Performance
The year ending 2025 witnessed continued growth in both community engagement and ecological recovery across the site. Outreach activities expanded significantly, with 26 new members joining the mailing list and 30 new volunteers becoming involved in our project.
More than 500 volunteer hours were contributed throughout the year, with over half dedicated to supporting community events. Six public events, workshops and open days welcomed over 100 attendees , while Friends of Denmarkfield work parties maintained an average attendance of 10 volunteers .
Education and partnership work also continued to develop. We delivered 14 hours of sessions with 100 pupils at Luncarty Primary School , engaged 16 children through our Rewilding Rangers programme , and began working with Murthly Primary School for the first time. We also collaborated with five charities —Scottish Badgers, the Duke of Edinburgh Award, Perthshire Seed Library, Culture Perth & Kinross and Perth Autism Support—and hosted visits from a range of other organisations. Two presentations were delivered at local events, helping to share learning and inspire wider community involvement. On the land, six new allotment plots were taken on, further strengthening local engagement with nature and sustainable growing.

Ecological monitoring continues to demonstrate the positive impacts of habitat restoration. Between April and September, 22 bee and butterfly surveys recorded 4,394 bumblebees across the site. White/buff-tailed bumblebees were the most abundant species recorded, while populations of several key species showed remarkable increases, including an 85% rise in red-tailed bumblebees and a 214% increase in buff-tailed workers . Butterfly surveys recorded 269 individuals representing a diverse range of species, and overall butterfly abundance has increased by 296% since intensive farming ceased .
Botanical surveys documented 183 plant species across the site, reflecting the increasing diversity of habitats now present. Soil health also continues to improve, with earthworm numbers increasing by 218% compared with levels recorded under intensive farming practices.
Since 2021, 86 bird species have been recorded, with this year's highlights including breeding spotted flycatchers, kestrels, tree pipits and stonechats, increasing numbers of sedge and grasshopper warblers, and common sandpipers making use of the South Field ponds. These results demonstrate the ongoing restoration of habitats is providing increasingly valuable breeding and foraging opportunities for wildlife.
Together, these achievements highlight another year of strong progress, with growing community participation alongside measurable ecological recovery, demonstrating the long-term benefits of nature restoration for both people and wildlife.
The work at Rewilding Denmarkfield SCIO would not be possible without our dedicated and passionate team of staff and volunteers.

Zero reserves are held on the basis that all costs pertaining to the SCIO are funded by our Trustee.

Notes to the Accounts
for the year ended 30th September 2025
1. Basis of accounting
These accounts have been prepared on the Receipts and Payments basis in accordance with the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended).
2. Nature and purpose of funds
Unrestricted funds are of a general nature and have no conditions attached. Unrestricted funds and may be used at the discretion of the trustees in furtherance of the objects of the charity.
Restricted funds can only be used for particular restricted purposes within the objects of the charity.
3 Related party transactions
All income and expenditure for the period was paid personally by A. Lansdown (Trustee). The charity’s bank account was opened in March 2026, and future transactions will be processed through that account.

Independent Examiner's Report for the year ended 30th September 2025
I report on the accounts of the charity for the year ended 30th September 2025.
Respective responsibilities of Trustees and examiner
The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) 2005 Act and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. The charity trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (d) of the Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44(1) (c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner's statement
My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeks explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and, consequently, I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.

In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention other than disclosed below
