The Dundee Deuces is a fun and inclusive tennis and pickleball club for LGBTQIA+ people and their allies.

Sport can be a difficult place for LGBTQIA+ people, though this is happily changing. Belonging in sport is important for our physical and mental health, and spaces like the Dundee Deuces are important for supporting our wellbeing.

Whether you are new to tennis or pickleball, returning after a long time, or a regular player, we would love to see you at our club sessions. Both membership and these sessions are free for the 2025 season thanks to the National Lottery Community Fund and for the 2026 season thanks to the Common Good Fund of Dundee City Council.

We have some excellent coaches supporting these sessions to help ensure that new and returning players are supported, and to give tips to regular players.

We will create more social dimensions to the club as we grow and develop.

Hopefully, we will see you on court and enjoying tennis and pickleball with us soon.

Dundee Deuces is a registered charitable incorporated organisation, number SC053610.

The Dundee Deuces was founded in June 2024 during Dundee Pride, with invaluable support from LEAP Sports Scotland and Festival Fortnight. Our vision was to create an inclusive space for LGBTQIA+ people to enjoy tennis and pickleball in Dundee. We are proud to have achieved SCIO status by the end of August 2024 and to be registered with both the LTA and Pickleball Scotland. We are also registered with Club Dundee.

Membership Growth

From our first event, which welcomed eight players, we have grown to a thriving community of 78 members. This rapid growth reflects the strong demand for inclusive sports opportunities and the commitment of our volunteers and partners.

Facilities and Support

For our first nine months, we were deeply grateful for the support of:

This generosity enabled us to establish regular weekly sessions, regularly attracting 20+ participants, and to maintain a free-to-access model for both membership and participation.

Coaching and Development

All sessions have been coach-facilitated, and we have prioritised supporting younger coaches by offering fair pay and development opportunities. This approach strengthens both our club and the wider coaching community.

Competitions and Achievements

The majority of our players were new to tennis and pickleball or returning after many years of out sport. With the support of our coaches, we have seen them grow and develop as players since our inception. Our players’ progress fills us with pride.

Our first tournament, the Serve It Cup, was held in January 2025 at Saints Sports, at the University of St Andrews. The University of St Andrews sponsored and enabled this event through the provision of the courts. We hosted the Weegie Whackers (Glasgow) at this special event.

From this foundation, we have:

Funding and Financial Position

We secured our first major grant from the National Lottery Community Fund, which underpins our ability to maintain free participation and membership into the 2025/26 financial year.

For the 2024/25 financial year:

Closing Remarks

The trustees present our Annual Report and Financial Statements with immense pride in what the Dundee Deuces has achieved since its foundation. From a small group of eight players to a vibrant, competitive, and inclusive club, we have built a strong platform for growth. We look forward to continuing to serve our community and to expanding opportunities for LEBTQIA+ people in sport.
