Trustee repori 31" March 2025 - Kilmallie Community Fridge ond Gorden. Since becoming a chariiy in May 2024 we Iiave been very busy. We goi our own insurance. oui bank accouni soned ind managed to Iiansfer the funds held by Kilmallie Communiiy Council in Augusl 2024. Mle also secured further fundin8 fiom Hubbub and the Communities Menial Healih and Wellbeing fund lo allow us to take on a sessional worker 10 manage Ihe project, a5 well as run a number of worksliops and gardening sesspons. In Augusi we helped another fridge In Ihe area sei up, the Plantat?on Communiiy Larder_ We shared food, resources and skills and one of our volunteers did a food wasie cookery demo. In September we joined Ihe Highlands and Islands flimaie Fesiival in ch'o events - the first Lochaber Climèie Aciion Fe51ival on ihe I, and our own firsl Communiiy Apple Day on ihe 28, of September. These were both lovely evenis, the Apple Day was a particularly well attended community dai,, and we plan li again for 2025- we also had Wesl HTghland Herbal in to do an apple based workshop on food & methcine. In October we joined again with Hubbub's - Eat Your Pumpkin eveni. with a decorating then a cookery session. We learned how to decoiaie our pumpkins sustainably, and then how to Tnake deliciou5 food from Ihem. In December we organised a Volunieer Xmas Party and inviied all Ihe local volunieers and their famille5 from Kilrnallie. M'ith suppon from Kilrnallie Cotrtwnunii). Council. This was gieai fun and we hope io make it a yearly event. Our sessional worker has recently completed A Ma]u'ng Change Happen cornmunity leadership course with Ihe Ilighlands and Islands Climate Hub. and plans 10 go on lo compleie the qualificaiion later Ihis yeai. We have a program of workshops planned for the year, Ihese COTnmenced on the 2Y FebtuaTr with microgreen and 5prouung workshop with our sessional Worker which Nvas well Jtlended. The nexi worksliop after this was a mu51Lroom growiI)g workshop i)n the 6, of March wlrh an exTetnal facililaior from Rhyze Mushrooms iii Edinbur8h- again very well received and auended. Our evaluation forms are completed ai the end of each workshop so we can gauge the attendees mood, enjoyment, expectation etc. Some of the other workshops we have planned are a series of 4 foraging workshops with West Highland Herbal, a flower growing. Seed saving and a sourdoltgh making workshop. On 23, March we ran a seed share and also joined in wilh the RHS Big Seed Sow wilh members of the public snwing Cosmos. Chives dnd Cornflower which will be planled oul into a small space in our gardens. Our communiiy fridge contti)ues 10 lake in a vasi quantiry of food wasie from local supermarkets and we colleci 7 nights , and 3 days every w'eek. WÈ alsu gei monihly deliveries of surplus and shon dated foods from Fare5hare. As of the 15, of MaTLh we have collecied and distribuEed over 50 ionnes of food since our inception under Ihe Kilmallie Communiiy Council umbrella iii August 2021. We have around 30 volunieers Iliroughoul il)e projeLI, and our board of 4 1 rustees is made up ol past or curreni volunleers of Ihe communily fridge. aim io have a supportive and nurturing environmeni for our volunieers so coniinue io look ai ways to make them feol seen dnd valued.
