Provides the community with a healthy fun outdoor woodland amenity, catering for local organisations, disadvantage peoples through physical disablement, people with special needs and the general public. The promotion of tree culture and the ecological well being of the local environment.

Objectives: 4.1. The SCIO will promote, advance and further charitable purposes in Shetland primarily by: 4.1.1. providing facilities, opportunities and activities that promote and improve community health and wellbeing. advance education and citizenship and community development. 4.1.2. creating and maintaining a woodland area which contributes to the diversity and ecology of Shetland. and 4.1.3. providing access to recreational facilities to those with a disability and limited mobility to support and improve their health, wellbeing, and independence. 4.2. For the purposes of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005, the following purposes are (i) particularly relevant and (ii) are the charitable purposes identified as applicable from section of the 2005 Act: - 4.2.1. the advancement of education. 4.2.2. the provision of recreational activities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended. and 4.2.3. the advancement of environmental protection or improvement. 4.3. The SCIO shall have the power to advance any of the above purposes or objects by the giving of grants or loans or the provision of credit or other forms of assistance, financial or otherwise, to person undertaking projects, initiatives and/or activities which further any of the above purposes or objects and which are wholly charitable within the meaning of the Taxes Acts and section 7 of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005.
