We also offer dementia awareness sessions and advice to local businesses and other groups.
The Friday Club Meeting Centre provides a welcoming space where people can socialise, participate in activities, and find helpful information tailored to their needs. It offers community-driven support for individuals living with dementia and their caregivers. Activities are designed around the interests of attendees, ensuring a person-centred approach. The Friday Club Meeting Centre warmly welcomes people from all cultural backgrounds and socioeconomic groups, whether they have a formal diagnosis or not.
Social connection is a central focus of The Friday Club Meeting Centre. It provides an environment where individuals with cognitive impairment or dementia are supported and understood. This setting enables participants to feel at ease and alleviates the stigma they may frequently encounter in broader society.
Achievements and Performance
Between January 1st and December 31st, 2025, Dementia-Friendly Aberfeldy (SC 053275) ran The Friday Club Meeting Centre sessions for a total of 48 weeks. Throughout this period, 11 members participated, accumulating 240 session attendances and receiving about 600 hours of care in total. Support was provided by eleven volunteers and one contracted staff member, contributing roughly 1,320 volunteering hours to assist both members and their caregivers.
Each session features diverse activities such as art, crafts, gardening, baking, games, reminiscence exercises, music, and physical activity. An important aspect of The Friday Club is that every member receives a nutritious lunch weekly.
These activities and social interactions have led to several positive outcomes:
-
e Decreased social isolation and loneliness e Lowered stigma surrounding dementia
-
e Enhanced sense of belonging
-
e Strengthened informal support networks for carers
-
e Increased person-centred care from active involvement of those affected by dementia and their carers
All volunteers are registered under Scotland’s PVG scheme, most possessing food hygiene certifications, and attend dementia awareness training to ensure high standards of care for all members.

DFA derivesits income from grants, private donations and fund raising activities. In September 2025 DFA appointed a meeting centre co-ordinator and began to incur the associated costs. Prior to that appointment, all services had been provided by trustees and volunteers on an unpaid basis. The Trustees have revised the reserves policy to build and maintain reserves that represent at least 9 months' worth offuture operating expenditure (2024 - 6 months).
Plans for the Future
Over the coming year, we will continue to raise awareness about dementia and highlight strategies for living well with the condition. We will also strive to enhance The Friday Club experience to ensure the highest standards for our members. Furthermore, we aim to support the development of our volunteers, recognising their vital contributions. In addition, we will promote intergenerational activities and expand initiatives that engage the broader community in general.
Thanks
The Trustees would like to extend their thanks to our volunteers, and to the organisations and individuals who have added their support. This has enabled us to arrive at a point where we can start to deliver direct support to vulnerable people within our community.
The Trustees would especially like to thank our grant funders and individual donors who have enabled DFA to create a space designed specificallyfor those living with dementia. In particular we would like to thank the following grant funders:
SSE Griffin and Calliachar Community Fund Age Scotland
Lang Foundation

Dementia Friendly Aberfeldy Independent Examiner’s Report to the Trustees of Dementia Friendly Aberfeldy | report on the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31" December 2025 which are set out on pages 6 to 8.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005, the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended) and Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) as amended in October 2019 (effective 1 January 2019). The charity's trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (d) of the 2006 Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44({1) (c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner's statement
My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeks explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently| do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.
Independent examiner's statement
In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
-
which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:
-
to keep accounting records in accordance with Section 44(1) (a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations
-
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with Regulation 9 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations
have not been met, or
- to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
