## _**Structure, Governance and Management**_

Milton Arts Project is a Scottish Incorporated Charitable Association, incorporated on 2 April 2024 and registered as a Scottish charity with registration number SC053251. Its activities are governed by its constitution, effective from the date of incorporation, and regulated by the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR).

Trustees are appointed by initial invitation from the board and acceptance of the responsibilities of a trustee by that individual. This is then agreed formally at the following board meeting.

Each trustee serves for a period of one year and steps down at the end of each AGM. Reappointment is agreed at the following board meeting, as are any new trustee appointments, unless there are any known issues that may prevent this.

As a new charity, the board currently meets every month while future funding is sought. This will reduce to bi-monthly in the coming year.

The trustees meet with attendees of the project on a quarterly basis and use these interactive sessions to inform monitoring and evaluation of the work of the charity.

## _**Objectives & Activities**_

The objects of Milton Arts Project are;

- a. The advancement of arts & culture in Milton and the surrounding areas of North Glasgow

- b. The provision of recreational activities, or organisation of recreational activities

The main activities of the charity in pursuit of the above objects are:

- providing tutor led, weekly music sessions free of charge in the local community

- regular tutor-led creative writing sessions held throughout the year

- provision of a practice room for free use by local musicians that attend the project activities

- provision of a recording studio with professional standard equipment within its rented premises which project attendees can have access to at pre-agreed times

## _**Achievements & Performance**_

Our project is run by local people for local people. In the past year, the tutors and project attendees have been busy with a plethora of creativity.

During the year, we produced a community compilation album with contributions from 20 local people, who each recorded their song in the Milton Arts Project (MAP) studio. In addition, a number of local people have written and recorded their own original songs and these have been released on our own record label MAP 75, and are now available to listen to on Bandcamp.

The creation of a MAP 75 “Zine” was established, with numerous creative writing and art work contributions. This has been published in paper format and available locally through the project, local library and from attendees of the project.

All of our work is anchored by the weekly music workshop we run in our community on Thursdays from 10am to 12pm. There are on average 30 adults who attend this workshop on a weekly basis, where we provide a safe, creative space for encouraging feedback and ideas from everyone.

We have regular brainstorming sessions with those that attend and continually look to grow and develop our creative activity. We also frequently use a 'pop up board' where people can write up any thoughts or ideas (annonymously if they wish).

Our project attracts a diverse range of people and many arrive through 'word of mouth' encouragement locally. We do this through some of our group performing at local community events and promoting the work of the project.

We also aim to address barriers to participation through our presence. This year some of our board participated at wider community partnership networking events, where we shared and exchanged information with other local projects and agencies about the work of MAP.

## _Reserves Policy_

The trustees are still in the process of formulating a reserves policy suitable for the purposes of Milton Arts Project as a new charity with low overheads. Meantime, the trustees have sought to secure sufficient grant and other income to ensure that existing programmes can continue at the current level, and this has been achieved in the period.

## _Trustee Remuneration and Expenses_

Details of trustee remuneration and expenses are provided in Note 5 to the accounts.
