Objectives and activities
PCSC w￿S set up in spi'ing 2024 by Tnenibe15 of the cominunity seeking to prevent the closure of the Polmonthill Ski
centre by bringing it into communiiy hands. The obje¢iives of PCSC are to su.siainahly operate the snow.spons cent
piuviJin¥ hi¥h-quality, affi)rd￿1b[c uppoilunities tLI P<lrtlLiPdte in snowspurts to peijple in Polmijnt (Ind the wider Fdlkiik
area. We aim io create a thriving %now%port% cojnmllnity hub while ensuring a financially.%ecure future for the Centre.
Achievements and performance
Following discussions wilh Falkirk Council Ihroughout 2024 we look over Communiiy management of ihe ski centre
fiurn the Council on a short-ierm month by munih lease on I st (kiober 2024. In so doing, we saved the ski Lenire frum
immediate closure. Our takeover made the news bulletin on Central FM and featured in the local pre%s.
Falkirk Council voted to approve our Commllniiy Asset Transfer application on 28th November.
We are cU￿entlY in funher negotiations Wlth Falkirk Council around the ter￿￿ of Coininunity Asset Transfer and expect
Ihe purchase io conclude la￿r in 202.5. As part of the transter agreemeni Falkirk Council have awarded PCSC money
from the Enableinent Fund they set ￿side to support COTllTnunity groups taking on assets. Following COTnplelion of tlie
Communiiy Asset Transfer, this funding will enable u.s to refurbish and repair ihe building.s ai Ihe ski cenire.

for all the help and .suppnrt that they have proN'ided in helping us navigate the Communiiy Assei Transfer. We are also
grateful to Falkirk CounLiI for the fundin¥ ieceived through the Community Empuweiment Gtant.
We hdve successfully ￿naged oui filst eight months opeiating the facility dnd in1port￿ntlY kept Iocdl people Skiing and
boarding. To help our operation we introduced a new website which as well as informing the community aboui our
Cummunity Asset Tr￿InSfer jOUTney. hdb endbled online boukin¥ of snowspurtb sesbions. The webbite hds Tll£ide il easier
for the public to See what snowsports %e%sion% are available and to book. We have al%0 made u%e of .%ocial Jnedia to
promote activities ai Ihe centre. We now have more than 2800 users registered on the website tor booking online and
alrnost s￿ followers on Facebook. More than 1800 bookings have been made so far.

We had our fir81 eveni on 7ih OLiober. hosiing eighi primary school ieams and thir￿en secondary school teams for Ihe
Scottish Schools Snowsports A5SOCidlion ISSSAI du￿] sldlom regiondl qualifier event. All the skiers Iiad a g[e￿t d￿Y dnd
we look fnrward 10 hosiing Ihe S.SSA again laier this year.
On 27th Octobei we had an Open Day which was incredibly well attended with many familial f(ILes and plenty of new
ones trying out skiing, %nowboarding alld tubing. All %e8%ion% on the day were over%ub%cribed and the event
demonstrated Ihe sirong community demand for snowsports. We thank Snowsports Scotland and members of ihe Scottish
ski community and other local businesses who supported the event and have hel[￿d us through OUT firsi y￿￿.
We have held weekly snowspons leswn% %ince October which have been booked online. Ski and boarding le.%sons have
been provided each week from beginner through to advanced levels and have been al￿nded by people trom age 4 and
above.
Our adulrs Classes have been incredibly popular wilh ihree fully booked beginners classes running each week during
November and DeLember. ALross the ye￿r rnore thdll 60 ddults have le￿ined to Ski with mdny continuing on to tdke
inierniediate and adN'anced cla%%es.
We have also had mole than 50 children from Bts'ness piimary schools ctsme io thke ski lessons. As ihese lessons were
organised through the %chool% many children who otherwi%e would not have coiisidered tying skning have had the
opportuniiy. Many of these children have also Continued wilh iheir lessons and are now in an advanced class. We look
fo￿￿rd to woiking Bo'ne5s and other Iocdl schools dgain next year
The Linlithgow sch￿18 Friday cluster has coniinued io be a well airended pan of ihe weekly Calendar with more than 60
children dllendin¥ Tllijst Fiidays.
Ski racing traijiing se%%ions have continued on Monday and Thur%day evenings with many new children joining race
training lor the lirst time and other more established skiers honing Iheir skills. Polmont skiers have also represented the
club at COTnpetition5 across the country and have picked up ali impressive array of niedals.
Our snowboard lessons have run every Saturday wilh a few regulars also dropping in for weekly snowboard pra¢iice
sessions. We would like to extend oui thanks lo Mich￿tI L who hdb taken dll our snowboarding sessiuns this yedl dnd
has bccn at Polmnnthill for 6 ycar%. Michael is graduating thi% sumnier and mnving tn othcr oppnrtuniiie%. Hc will hc
a big loss io us and we hold oui hope thai he will reiurn io Polmonihill a[￿r his adventures abroad.
A particular highlight of the year was our tubing with elve% at Christmas. These se%sions were fully booked and we will
surely have the elves back lor more lubing nexi lestive period. Tubing has also run throughoui the year and proven 10 be
popular for birthday partie5 and with 5COUt and youth groups.
None of Ihis would have been possible wiihoui Ihe supw)n of our Many volunieers and insiruciors. Our ieam of
iiistIULliJrs. m(Iny of them youn¥ Polmvnthill skiers whv have reLenily qualified. h<ive dll woiked hdrd lo develop their
Own %kills as in%tructar%, and en%ure we can provide great in%tructian and experience% ta our cl&%s participant.%.
Our wolunieers have all given many hours ol. their time to cleaning, iidying and maintaining the slope. Ihe grounds and
the buildings. And inost importantly to setting skisl We have more thali a dozen volunteers trained to set up skis and
ensure that all skiers and knarders have ihey equipmeni they need ro hir ihe slope. Our regular volunieers have goiten to
know the reguldr customei's throughout c￿ch block of lessons and have enjoyed seeing the happy f￿CeS ￿fier tlie lessons
and the progres% that the learners have Inade in their %kiing and boarding. Progre%s and pEffticipation that they have
enabled through their volunieering. We couldn't do it wiihout our volunteer team, you are all faniasiicT Thank you.
We have had a hugely %uece%%ful first year thr()ugh the combined effort% nf instrnctars, volunteers and trnstee%. It has nai
all been plain sailing though, and over ihese monihs we have learned a loi aboul all Ihe vailed iaskb involved in iunning
the centre. Whether it be sortit]g out the bin%, nianaging the cu%tomtr ellquirie%, %cheduling the se%%ions, updating the
websiie, weeding the slope. or mopping up flooded ioileisl There is always anoiher job to be done in order to keep Ihe
slope the running.

Income totalliRg £146,150 was received during the year, with £6,677 being restricted funding.
Expenditure for the year was £64.465, with £5.677 EEing from the restricted funds.
